me ears!

forgot to call the family about my annual check up...it's easier for me to just blog it. so this post is kinda boring for those who are not family...or care....haha

i went for my hearing check up. the dr ran some tests and came back to talk to me. we sat down and she asked the basic questions

how many kids do you have? 1
when was the last test done? 2 yrs ago. after i had nate. oops

then she asked if i have had any other testing done. i said no

then she told me that my left ear has not changed since my pregnancy with nate

quick back up story for those who don't know

- i lost some hearing as a child in the left ear. over time with massive ear infections and good old dr neglect, i lost almost all hearing by 18

-at 18, i went to get checked again and was shocked to discover that i had a huge growth/abscess growing on my what's left, ear canal. the infection ate away any "good" tissue. i was booked for reconstructive surgery the next week to remove the nasty growth, then take tissue from the side/back of my head/neck to create a "new" ear drum/canal the remaining nerves and such were reattached with the hope of new growth and *cross fingers* get some hearing back

-as time went by, i did not gain any hearing. (sob, sob) and in sheer and utter refusal, i will not wear a hearing aid...i just suck it up and like being deaf haha

so. after i birthed nate, i went for my annual test and was told that i did develop "hormone related hearing loss"

yes. your hormones can cause you to lose your hearing in pregnancy

so i now lost the hope of getting some hearing back with connecting the nerves (sometimes it can happen as you age) and get this. i lost some hearing in my right ear, due to my pregnancy with nate

so. skip 2 yrs later...back to last wks hearing test....

the dr then told me that i some how lost "significant" hearing in my RIGHT ear and how this is possible,??i also lost the remaining "tone" in the left ear....

she was confused how this could happen????

it hit me. i felt the tears starting up

i told her that i was pregnant last year and we lost the baby at 19 wks. she confirmed what she thought happened i lost MORE hearing with ben's pregnancy....sniff, sniff....even though i did not carry full term, the hormones that do the most damage are the ones at the start of the pregnancy

ok. then i cried. she felt so bad for me and my situation...

i lost my son and more hearing!

then we finished the tests and her report it this:

i am the perfect candidate to have more surgery in both ears. esp the left

BUT

they will only do this surgery when you are FINISHED your family. bec, i could get pregnant and then lose more hearing...and that is a very high chance of that happening. she said that the surgeon may make an exemption for me and operate...with the chance of me getting pregnant, bec we are not done with our family (our hearts desire that is)

OR

i suck it up buttercup and get the blasted hearing aid

the wait list to see the surgeon is 1 yr

but! i have an appointment in 2 wks!!

breaking down and crying was a good thing :) the dr felt so bad for me, she actually called the surgeon himself and told him to see me asap...ha...and i got in!

now that's favor!

i will keep you's all updated after that appointy 0 comments

the long weekend away!

"i go to uncle jon and uncle (sorry!) jess's. nana, popa, aunty, quinn and my sister charlotte grace be there!"

this is one excited little boy!

bug hunt!
ok. keeping the trend of celebrating the boy's birthdays together, we did a mini party at j&j's place. nate is so into bugs and quinn not so much. quinn has fire ants in his grass, so he's a little uncomfy with the whole bug thing

so i planned a bug hunt to help quinn "get over" the bug hate and develop some love for those creatures...

so i got them these cool bug buckets with a magnifying glass in the lid and planted edible bugs and toys all over j&j's property. each spot had a clue to the next bug pile

i made up a story of "OH NO! we have a problem, there are bugs all over j&j's house and we MUST go find them and get them"

the first pile and clue was on the front steps

note quinn's smile of delight when he realized that these bugs were not actually real but the yummy kinds. haha
to the wood pile! more bugs! everywhere!
oh no! j&j's tent has bugs all over it. must save the tent!
uncle fun reading another clue
we had the boys work up a sweat running from place to place. ha!
nate saved the shed! look at all those bugs!
mommy helping quinn. i love this pic. he was telling her that "it's ok, they are not real bugs" so cute!
oh no! nana and poppa's van! get those bugs!
uncle jess reading the next card! love this shot of her. so vogue
the boys called her aunty gus or gus for the longest time, now it's uncle jess...she's a great sport about it
busted en route to the next bug location...nate was having a snack
those bugs were even in the fire pit!
yeah! they love bugs now!
it was such fun. love kids. love creating fun things for them to do!

oh and poppa looks great too. ha
nate's THIRD as in 3!!!!! BIRTHDAY CAKE. bugs of course
seriously. 3! when did THAT happen? sniff, sob, sob. my baby is a little boy now!
quinn's cake. cars!
their faces when they saw the cakes
nate sat down. looked at the cake. blew out each candle one at a time. then pointed to each bug, named them, smiled and sat back to enjoy the cake
quinn saw the cars, dove into the cake, grabbed the tow truck off and immediately put it in his mouth, ate the icing off, put it back in the cake and went to grab a piece of cake. with his hands.
can these boys be any more different?
ha!
showing him the HUGE snake that was wrapped around the cake. note the bowl for all the bugs to go into for later. nate is so funny
quinn. icing lover. love this pic. love you more quinny!
nate holding the sparkler
brace yourself for the next pictures
nate burnt his hand on the sparkler. bad. see those elephant tears? i was a mess too
so much pain.
i thinki bawled as much as him!
he's ok. thanks to chris's quick action, he ran the burn under cold water for 15 mins to stop the burn. nate has a blister today, a red mark and that's it. thank goodness kids heal so fast
would i let him hold the sparkler again?
yes
i can't put nate in a bubble. accidents happen
maybe i am just a mean old mom....can i say this with all respect to my judger mommys who think i should never let him hold a sparkler? go judge yourself! remember. those 4 fingers are pointing right back at ya....bawahhhh
still love me? ha
home ward bound! a mini stop at the train to play
while mommy and daddy eat ice cream. so good. it's my new fav flavour. northlumberland straight "birthday party" and yes, it IS different from pc and scottsburn birthday party. SO good
then a quick play in the sand box
after we got home. chris and i decided to clean the car/van. they haven't been cleaned in over a year. it took us over 2 hours. TOGETHER! to clean them. we even pressure washed the car seat, mats and stroller. they are all sparkly and new looking/smelling
being outside and no food in the use, i didn't have the time to cook supper. so we went to mcdee's drive thou and dined at a park. nate's car seat was still wet so we rigged the above blanket up. nate loved it. he was all cosy/comfy!
so there ya go. a busy and fun weekend!

it's good to be home. in clean cloths and my bed was just wonderful to sleep in. ha
