enjoying the fall

tues night we ended up having a black out.  so we made the best of it.  chris used the tractor to shine the lights and we let the kids and their friends play in the dark.  i sat outside in my winter coat and sipped tea from the kettle on the bbq. haha  this is how we make memories!

wed was BEAUTIFUL out!  the kids were ranging, so i took them to a park down the st, they played for about 30 mins then we found this trail and off we went.  we had to have walked a good 2 km.  the kids ran and played with the pretend pumpkin nate found, they kicked it called it "pumpky" and then lost it in the water. ha
this is less than 5 mins from my house. i never even knew it!  i told nate we will have to go back with our bikes
 so beautiful
playing by the water with the ducks
it was a fun spontaneous moment!
thurs night i dropped nate off at cadets, i met a new friend a few weeks ago and invited her to join me for coffee.  the original pan was to coffee for about an hr, then he hubby came to pick her up. she was having such a great time she told him to go home and pick her up in 2 hrs.  haha.  it was really neat to step out and reach out to a "new" person. so glad i did!  but as i sat down to drink my coffee, i had to snap a pic of this lady for shawn.  ill NEVER drink another starbucks again with out giggling at the logo shawn!
fri was FUN day. or as joey calls it "the best day of her life EVER" we had a tour at the zoo with the home school group.  it was SO much fun. the tour guide was new and SO funny. the actual guided tour was for 2 hrs, but we ended up spending 3 hrs with him.  i learned so much about the animals ive visited 100 times before.  he told us lots of fun facts about the zoo and animals.  and i saw the ant eater for the first time!
 watching the bears
some of the group.  it was a large group,  great mix of ages. nate took off with his friend and i spent most of the time with the girls and jess and her girls
the girls insisted i take a pic of this baby guinea pig.  see the tiny blob above the orange, thats it. and its 2 wks old. so cute!

we ended up spending 4 hrs at the zoo. we stayed until i was too cold!  we met chris at the house for supper and decided to skip going to the cabin that night.  chris had a meeting in freddy sat morning that he went to. around 10 i packed up and hit the cabin with the kids in tow. chris met us around 3.  it was  truly enjoyable day at the cabin
ifinally finished this baby!  SOOO good.  it was almost 500 pages but i managed to read it over 4 days.  i started it the last time we were at the cabin and finished it this wkend.  now that school is back and all the activities, i dont have as much time to read...bummer. ha
 chris painted the door trims
and put up the siding on the shed, as well as the trims
the wood pile is on the back and the back side so we werent able to finish the siding but chris did finish the covers for the wood piles
i LOVE having a place to go, even with the kids. haha.  to escape and relax.  ni wifi, no cellular.  just peace and quiet!

im so thankful!  and off i go to get ready for another week... 0 comments

River at the land

my cadet!

nate is FINALLY old enough to start his life long dream of joining air cadets.  hes been going for over a month now, but his uniform came in 2 wks ago. thats how out dated this blog is...oops!  i snapped a pic of nate before i took him to cadets.

his sisters are very proud!
nate is REALLY enjoying cadets.  hes forever shinning his shoes, practicing his commands, reading about it and talking about cadets. he attend every mon night from 6-9 for training and every thurs night for biathlon and sportsmanship.  im still getting use to this schedule!  im out every night of the week driving the kids and dropping them off. its a lot!  anyways!

we still attend our weekly pony class. this is the high light for the girls. they LOVE the ponies and horses and think they can get one for christmas, haha
one week they even colored them. ha
great job party pants (the pony) for letting the kids do this to her. ha
last wed we met up with some home school homies for the corn maze.  as soon as we pulled in nate ditched me and his sisters to join up with the teens. i hung around and waited for some friends to arrive and we took our littles through the small maze
 which was super easy...haha
and off the sea of pink went
after the maze we let the  kids play for 2 hrs while us moms sat in the sun, coffeed, caught up and reminded each other why home school is so awesome. ha
the large maze from the watch tower
the next morning i found this cutie all dressed like this.  she dresses herself now. and always has a bow and her jewelry on
i cant believe my BABY is 5!
what a total card she is. SO fun to watch and listen to play!

my girls LOVE painting and crafts.  last thurs they spent 2 HOURS painting.  sure they pained 10 pictures and had paint everywhere but they had so much fun doing it.  ellie pretended to host a how to paint show an joey followed along
some of the paintings...i ran out of room!
after nates cadets thurs night we hit up the cabin for the LONG weekend.  it was SOOOO nice to spent thurs-mon there with NO cellular, or wifi!  i totally enjoyed it.  we did some work around the cabin, the siding on the shed, chris did the trims, some more work on the wood pile shelter, we took down the bug tent and just enjoyed being outside.

fri was out 16th anni.  chris took the day off to surprise me! and we spent most of it outside...we took the kids to the river
 so beautiful!
took down a tree or two
 the river
 more river
we even had the yum box with us to enjoy outside.  i also packed a bag of paints, our nature journals and lunch.  we worked in our books, explored and enjoyed the land!
ellie read and put joey to bed!
chris and i broke down. we brought something new to the cabin...
yup!  the tv from the playroom. which hasnt been used in YRS.  there is only a dvd and x box.  surprisingly its not being used as much as i though it would but it does break up the day for the kids and i dont mind having an hr to read uninterrupted!
 i read this book
 my sillies!
we had a lovely thanksgiving at the cabin, and so much to be thankful for!  0 comments

nate even came to pony class last week to see what the fuss was all about. he had a great time and even walked them!

ellie watching the ponies run
creating a course for the ponies to go through
i could hear the girls playing last week. i came into this.  they were playing "day care"  and tied up all the stuffies on a chain to walk around
SO glad to be home with my kids and no chain gang for them. ha

cabin

we hit up the cabin this past weekend for a quick visit. sat i talked chris into exploring the back lot of our property.  we havent walked it since last june...so off we went
its amazing how peaceful it is
this is the river from the other side and down farther than the old fishing shack. so neat to see it from the other way
this tree is MASSIVE and chris wants to take it down to turn into a fountain of sorts.  i told him NO an to "leave the tree alone!" ha
 our river
 more of our river
 the coolest tree
the kids were discovering and savaging everything they could find. we hear calls of "MOM! look!" and "dad! look!" the whole time
 the river down stream
 more river
i came upon this. the picture cant captivate how beautiful it was. a small pond full of leaves with the shadow of the trees in it.  even joey stopped to watch it
