TOPEKA — Jon and Darla Crocker, who dutifully abstained from sex during their 14-month courtship, have remained abstinent after marriage and plan to do so indefinitely. “If it was holy before, it must be double-holy afterwards,” Darla says. They have now completed 25 months of marriage without any sexual contact, going about their normal lives, jobs and social calendar with no hint of relational strain. Sometimes after dinner they will kiss in the kitchen and “start having bedroom thoughts,” Darla says, but they never fail to pull back. Darla breaks away to spray cool, misted water on her face. Jon eats a whole raw potato to take himself out of the mood. They don’t know when they’ll finally break the pledge, and they feel no pressure. After abstaining so long before marriage, “a few extra years is nothing,” says Darla. “Of course, we don’t lord it over any other couple who decides to have sex after marriage, but for us it’s about staying faithful to the abstinence message and the holiness involved with that,” says Jon who seems unbothered. “For us, true love waits, and waits, and waits.” •

say what???  hu???? for real?  you don't want to lord it over us silly peeps who give in and have sex after we get hitched? awwww thank you! i won't judge you tonight. hahahaha

seriously, hu?  this is just odd and weird in so many ways 2 comments

cleaning! books! life!

what is that i hear?

chirp
chirp
chirp?

silence and it's truly golden! hahahaha

nates in hali with his grandparents for rock's vbs.  i have spent the week so far
cleaning!  wheeeeeee!

i am shocked by how much work i've gotten done with 1 less child!  i did what i call "deep" cleaning (and chris mocks me for this) the upstairs. then gutted the school room.  that job was so overwhelming it took me 3 days to pick away at it

i've also spend a lot of time doing this
seeking god for his direction for our family this yr.
it's surprising what i've heard from god so far
i am making some changes to what we did last yr, out some great ideas/projects on the back burner for another time and i am simply focusing (or trying to) on what god wants for our school this yr

i gotta admit, i wanted to play this week, go to the parks, stake a walk/bike ride shopping, visit friends and other silly activities that i enjoy. but i didn't.  i've done nothing but "work" i am glad i did!  i got so much done!

the next 2 days i plan on cleaning the lower level.  spending a lot of time pouring over books to pick and choose our curriculum for sept-dec
why?

because next week it's!!

sob sob sob

why can't summer last forever?

date night, family fun!

fri night, i was giving ellie her night bottle, rocking her in her room.  nate came in and quietly asked "mom, can you and me. just you and me go out and spend sometime alone together. doing something that both you and i enjoy doing together?"

i said sure what would you like to do?

he said go to shediac and visit the lobster. so we did!  chris stayed home with ellie and nate and i had us a date. we had a blast just hanging out.  we hit the drive throu, drove the senic way to shediac and visited the lobster
 and the fisherman
then we climbed over the docks and sat on the water (not literally on the water you sillies....but on the dock on the water) and watched the water, the fish, the spiders and anything else that had breath
 my handsome date
then we hit the park and i sat beside the water and swung on this awesome swing
it was a great date!

sat we hung out, i left my camera behind but i was ubber impressed with chris! we did the splash park, then hit the trails in the woods, walked around the pond and took the long way back.  he didn't complain once and both kids had a blast!
today!  it FINALLY came! ha.  we left after church to take nate to uncle johnny and aunty jess's place
yeah!  where we met up with mom/dad/quinn who took nate to hali for the week for vbs....and i plan on spending time gutting the school room....that's my goal....cough......cough.....
they even had a present for the boys.  after they listened to the instructions
they got to open them! they were SO stoked

dad and some of his grandkids
 aunty and the boys
silly quinn on the picnic blanket
 jess's back yard
sigh
i love it
tired ellie on the way home
 peek a boo baby girl
 so tired........
a fun, family filled weekend! just like i like it! 1 comments
can you believe it's another yr!  time to send off our home school letter to the school board

i am shocked by the difference one yr makes. i feel completely different sending this off this yr than last yr.  i was flooded with memories as i printed the application off from the fear, insecurity and loneliness that i felt last yr
this year?  im confident, secure and know i can do this
is it easy?
heck no!
but god never said life would be easy!

today we got creative.  i was talking to chris last night and i felt that i needed to connect with nate's heart today. so i picked something that we could work on together and talk
we turned the cardboard box into a rocket ship
 ellie pants
note the bandage on her hand!  mercy me! she grabbed the knife (it slipped out of my hand) and as i went to snatch it away the end of the blade nicked her thumb
i wanted to see how she would respond, so i did nothing, i saw the blood and she went back to playing....finally after NOTHING from her response wise, i picked her up and took her in the house to clean it up. then she cried.  so i wrapped it up and back to playing she was

so different from nate. hahaha
 right after the bandage
 silly giggle pants

i gave nate markers to go to town on the box
 he did great

then i looked over and saw ellie take the cap off the marker and draw this!!!!!
while she napped i brought the paint out to finish the rocket ship up
 such concentration
 and detail!

then it was time for sprinklers
and guess who's standing on her own?
 my dolly
 i see quinn in nate!!!
 silly, happy, giggle pants!
nice and quiet day with my kids....until the neighborhood kids got home. hahaha 0 comments

ducks and money

so i forgot about my stash of presents from ontario. i put them away when chris got home from his trip and remembered them on monday. oops.  so we opened them last night. there was a gift for nate
see above
he is SO excited to spend 4.50 at the dollar store. (after tithe and offerings) we haven't gone yet, but i am sure he will want a kinder egg, haha

ellie wants to know where her money is... haha
 please?

(i/m kidding!)
then it was onto the stickers... it's the simple things that kids love. balloons, stickers and lots of love
pick, pick. pick. as she grows the more she picks off. haha

yesterday morning i took ellie to feed the ducks the moldy bread haha during vbs.  just like i did with her brother at that age. sigh.  then i ran a few errands. it was nice!
tomorrow is the last day of vbs.  nate's had a lot of fun!  he now wants to be a ninja, superhero, western guy who wears jeans and a cowboy hat

i love kid's imagination! 0 comments

my birthday

this yr for my present i asked for..................wait for it.............for chris to  (help me) clean my nasty grout!!!!
chris being chris was not happy simply cleaning grout the normal way, cleaner and a scrub brush
no, my chris spent about 3 hours jigging up this high power cleaning contraption (which blew out some of my grout!!!!)
in the end, he cleaned my grout...thanks babe!!!
 he was finished sat afternoon
yesterday was my 28th birthday!
i got to spend the morning with these cuties
they were super busy but really good. which is nice
glue and 2 yr old is like god and jesus
the younger kids and my super, duper, shining stay helper!
chris and ellie joined us for lunch at the church. a pot luck.
baby girl in her rock star outfit....eating broccoli and holding a fork
ha
then chris took the kids home so i could work with my team, which rocked!  we had the stage set up (minus the general store chris will do that tonight) in 2 hours!
 livery, jail and sherrif's office
bank cafe and the general store will go in the middle
the entrance way. not too shabby
 large shot
 class room
alicia finishing it up for me
i got home and grabbed my baby girl!
 such a silly pants
then we fed her to the shark
locked nate up

threw him to the giant lobster
 i rescued ellie
and we all went out for burgers and ice cream

a lovely birthday all around 4 comments
