thanksgiving!

for thanksgiving we gathered at the cabin.  the kids had their friends over for the night. we did a bonfire, cook out and breaky in the morning
the littles asked if they could play in the dirt. i told them to go nuts. they did! they spent most of their time outside playing
gathering!
this was a home school fail turned into a yeah!  we were studying fossils and extent flying animals.  we went to make fossils with playdoh and clay but it didnt turn out. instead the girls spent the morning creating dinosaur habitats!  ha
joey's creation. and yes, that would be an egg, raw- uncooked! i let them play with them for the morning and we cooked them up for lunch. ha
ellie's
our fossil flops. oh well! but we had fun anyways
i cut the kids off juice. its too expensive and we were going through way too much of it. so ellie got creative and made her own lemonade!  i love her set up!  shes super careful to not leave a mess
so ellie wanted to listen to music while she did her school work. i gave her a week. i wanted to see how it went.  it ended up being a success! not only was her school work better, she put extra effort in...to be able to listen to more music! fine for me!
joey's fashion for the day.  she came in and i told her i liked her outfit and she said "everyone needs some fashion in their day" love it!
3 wks ago. i took the girls to the cabin for a girls night. on the way they wanted ice cream. so i took them to mcdonalds and look who served us! nate made our ice cream and my coffee

although i did hear him say to his coworker "dont worry about it, its just for me mom" what?!?! what did they do to my coffee?

sigh. my big kid
thanks nate for the ice cream! great job!

fall

somebody out grew her spot under the table!  poor meeks!

i took the girls to the river. meeks was in doggy heaven. she ran and ran and splashed and romped. she was COVERED in mud so i had to give her a bath when we got back...but it was worth it!

running back and forth and up and down. then waiting for us!
meeka!
after bath cuddles

and she crashed!  this was her look for the evening!

the next day we went to the back lot. i wanted to check on the logging process but we ended up taking a trail off the main road.  les has done an amazing job with the road!  look how smooth it is!
the colors were so vibrant. we picked a bag full of leaves to press when we got back

i cant believe i own this land!

we went off the path to look at some leaves, then ellie found this fella. we brought him home, named him smores and let him go the next day.  turns out its a salamander not a baby gecko.  the girls made him a habitat and fed him bread. ha.  ellie was so sad to release him back to the woods
seriously.  can this not get any better?  joey catching falling leaves, while meeka and ellie run in the back ground. a perfect day!

going back to the car.  i drove up to the back lot instead of walking on the road

when we got back meeka crawled out of the car and dropped
and didnt move for about 10 mins...which is a record for a 5 month puppy!
and her evening was spent like this
the girls played
and watched a movie while i read and enjoyed the quiet
ellie tucked meeka in

cabin living. i love it!
so glad she got a dog
look at that hug and meeka smile!

fall pt 2

joey wrote her christmas lit and gave it to me
hahaha

ellie's quite the little reader, she read this in 1 afternoon

i came into the girls room to turn off the light. because its IMPOSSIBLE for kids to turn off the light when they leave their room. or ANY room for that matter. i mean come on!  im for ever turning off lights!

anyways. i saw the mess and grimaced. then looked again and smiled

it wasnt a mess but a very carefully constructed play area that joey spend the morning making

a table set, with a dinosaur in the cage
more tables and stuffies. i love this imaginary play!
can you believe that we are wearing shorts and riding bikes in the middle of oct! that's changed, fall and the cool air has come. i dont mind it. i enjoy the fall and the cozy evenings. coffee, books and a blanket!
joey's been asking me to make crafts with her, so i pulled myself away from my book and made a craft with her, ellie often joins in as well
chris made apple sauce last week and we used the left overs to make cider.  every morning last week we had cider and devotions together
great memories!
meeks! i LOVE this girl!  she's my shadow and follows me everywhere. if i go to the bathroom she sits outside the door hitting the door with her paw. she's like another kid. but cuter. ha  be warned, i will be forever posting LOTS of pics of this girl!
beautiful meeka!
school art
ellie's getting into it as well!
meeka taking herself for a walk.  she loves to be off leash but i cant do that in the city, but i did find some woods behind our subdivision that i can walk her off leash.
she loves her walks and runs to the door when i say "wanna go for a walk?"
off leash!  look at that mud puddle she loves to run through! haha
she smiles the whole way
quiet evenings with my girl
i introduced a canada unit study. surprisingly, the girls enjoy it!

joey and heart heart....who needs a bath....but i cant wash her, im afraid she will fall a part!
we went back to the cabin for a few days this wk.  the girls found this spot in the woods and called it "the perfect picnic spot" and i agree!
look at those colors!
tired, run out meeka!

chris and nate joined us on sunday.  meeka was asking for some scraps. ha
meeks!
we spent sunday blowing the insulation for the addition on the shop. this will be chris's office and nate's work out space.  its separate from the house and will have baseboard heat/electricity but no water

joey really enjoys helping and being around us while we work.  nate and ellie were hiding in the cabin. ha

and she really was a great helper!
more tired out puppy!
