picture perfect!
that stuck me funny and immediately i was snapped back to the past yr. to the above pic. aren't those 2 boys just the bestest buddies? see how they adore each other? arms commented smiling so perfect at the camera in their matching p.js?
truth be told, about 10 seconds before the pic was taken i was yelling at nathaniel for not doing what i had asked him to do, then i got more frustrated when the kid refused to take a pic of their matching p.j's for papa who had just had his heart attack and was able to be there
after i yelled, chris came over and told him to be quiet, stand still and smile. the boys did and we got this great pic of them
3 seconds after the click of the camera quinn and nate got into a fight and hit each other

lets be honest! pictures lie! they are not real! they don't share the before and after picture! we tend to post the good and leave the bad...trust me i am not even clear close to having it together i fail daily, i struggle, i cry, i yell, i get sad and discouraged. i am not and no where near above any line of someone who has it together. i don't!
i often lay in bed at night and reflect over the day and want to rewind and do over most of it! and i am not even talking about home school! i should start a new blog about that!
i just know this. i am not alone in this, god is with me and chris is at my side, my side ppl not a head or behind but with me. even thou chris is not home a lot, i have his support by phone, text, mess etc and that is so helpful!
i have real friends that i am real with. a weekly coffee with a trust worthy, insightful, godly women can change my focus, encourage me, lighten my load and make me feel that i am not alone in this mommy journey. because you know what? being a mom is hard, whether you have 1 child or 10. it's hard. it's taxing, tiring, discouraging and lonely at times

sick day!

nate was out cold yesterday after barfing over the table
ellie was playing her piano
after another round he passed out again!
before bed, nate wanted to snuggle with ellie
she laughed the whole time!

ellie did it! she rolled from back to front this morning! i was changing her diaper when she started rocking and voila! she flipped over....then she tried to sit up
i calmly put my hand on her chest, pushed her back down and said "you don't need to rush my dear"

my day!
woke up bright and early at 4 am due to wonderful snoring husband, i decided to escape the noise by sleeping in the basement...chris woke me up at 8, which is late for most but early for me! my little ellie girl sleeps most days till 9:30 or we wake her, sigh. anyways. chris told me that he was leaving and nate would listen to the monitor and will let me know if ellie is crying or wakes up so i can sleep more

i stayed in bed for about 10 mins and came up to the sound of nate playing his wild kratts game and ellie crying!
i asked nate why he didn't come and get me? (yes i know that it's not 'fair' to put nate in the situation and would never do it for real!)
nate says "why?"
i pointed to the monitor and said "ellie's crying"
he said "oh" and went back to his game
again, i would not leave nate to care for her!
then we had breaky and i started the laundry, cleaned up, put ellie to nap, started school...nate then informs me he's sick! fine. with the phone ringing 4 times in 10 mins, i put the t.v on to deal with some things that came up...then more laundry and i decided to do school with nate. he did his work, we read and i woke ellie up
nate then informs me again by screaming like a wild bangie that he's SICK. shouldn't the world end??? i got him some soup, did more laundry (4 loads in total) started supper, then nate throws himself on the floor screaming " my tummieeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee it hurtzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz"
fine i call telecare cause i know my son, who's like his father and will not relent until he gets what he wants or decides to drop it, or i inform him that i am the boss......
while on the phone with telecare, which by the way the dude nurse was like chris and i spent 32 minutes!!! hearing facts about every little virus alive and how to cure my son....men! haha. i look over and see nate acting like he was going to pass out, closing his eyes and going limp!
i took him to the couch and layed him down, where he promptly fell asleep!
and i continued my fascinating (enter sarcasm) conversation with the telehealth guy....
i then fed ellie pants and played with her while i continued my telehealth phone call
finished supper and started folding the laundry
nate wakes up and walks over to the table
please check out the above pic bec i can only think of that to describe what happens when your 5 yr old throws up all over your kitchen table!

3 rolls of paper towel, 10 rags later it's cleaned up

out comes the mop and vac to get the little food pieces

floors are cleaned and it's time for ellie to go to bed! somehow while getting ellie to bed, my hand slipped from her blanket and i wacked myself in my eye. the eye i just had surgery done on!
everything went black in the eye. i blinked a few times and my sight came back blurry, 30 mins later it's still blurry but readable and typeable and very sore
then i went to put the steam mop away and burnt my thumb with the heat! seriously?!?!?!?!
and i haven't gotten upset once, haven't yelled or freaked out. i am tired thou
coffee anyone? i am gearing up for round 2!

nate actually looked up from jon's phone to say cheese
man! i have been so busy this last week. nothing out of the ordinary really, just life! cleaning up from christmas, catching up from lacking house stuff, recovering from my eye surgery, and taking on the daunting task of getting the new quarter for school ready. today is the first day back, and chris was smart to leave the house first thing. haha. i know from the past that the first few days are the hardest to whip nate back into shape...i wish he knew that at times i don't want to do things too!

it was a very uneventful volcano eruption but we got a bit of science into him on chrismas vacay!

i found myself giggling at 11:45 pm on dec 31st. chris was at a party and i was rocking ellie. with chris not being home i was free to rock as long as i wanted with out the threat of mockery. i rocked her for an hour. sweet precious baby girl. what a joyful delight you are. then i went to my bed at 5 to 12 and woke nate up for some new yr snuggles. i spent my night with my kids and i loved every second of it. there is always next yr to party but she will only be 6 months right now. redeem the time!
