we tried out orienteering wed morning with the home school group. so much fun! i've never done this before and have always wanted to try it. orienteering n.b set it up for us and gave us a great price.
we did the easy route
how does it work?
easy! we got into groups. came up with a name, each kid got a finger scanner and a map. you have to use a compass and the map to locate the hidden flags/check points in the park. when you find one you scan your finger which records the time and that you found the check point. then at the end of the race you scan your timer again and it records the winner. we decided to race the groups. the groups were all ages and sizes.
our group won! we had the youngest kids but man we could run!
i started with the stroller brigade
and quickly joined up with nate's group
i raced along with them
nate coming out of a check point
some of the trails i could not go into cause of the stroller. i hope to get a carrier of some sort for the next time
stopping to investigate a new spices of bug
the check point flag and the scanner in underneath it
racing to the finish line!
then we joined daddy for lunch in the park
my dolly ollie
what a sport. i decided to drop her down to 1 nap last week to free up my mornings this summer
so glad i did! she adjusted to it like nothing and i love being out with the kids
we rode bikes during ellie's nap
then we spent the evening watching the kids playwhat a fun filled day!
i love orienteering and want to join up with the adult teams. they also offer family routes. i think that would be fun! i'll have to talk chris into it....i'll tell him he can have a treat after. haha
now to find a carrier for ellie!
