it's all fun and games: ellie school round up!

i tried to take pics of ellie's school on friday. so this is a quick peek into "school" and the routine we have going....ellie ALWAYS meets me at her desk. she LOVES school and i cant teach her enough. i try to get joey situated playing DOWN STAIRS, with nate but she 99% of the time comes up with me which can be frustrating to both ellie and i. so far the tv has stayed off and i usually can get her playing beside me...

we do about 1/4 of what i did with nate. mostly because we run out of time...and joey distracts us. but she's ahead academically. she LOVES to read and loves her math but loathes writing. so i dont push her much. im hoping to establish a more solid routine in the new yr. she has burnt through 2 work books already...

joey was great on fri and played at my feet

i started her on level 1 2 weeks ago, shes at chapter 8. so yeah. she loves reading

i love teaching her. school time with her is really enjoyable.

she's on chapter 9 now but would be farther...i make her stop most days

i FINALLY gave in and got this counter for joey from IKEA! ive been wanting to find a way to show joey how to count. one. at. a time. so while ellies doing her math i have joey counting. fri she counted the whole thing! in order! and moved the beads as she counted!!! she's a visual learner. its interesting to see how each of my kids learn differently.

more reading and spelling

about a month ago, for fun i wrote a silly story for ellie on the board. she loved it. so every day i write a silly story for her to read.

after "book work" which takes about an hr, we go to my room for reading. ive taught nate and ellie how to read in my bed. snuggled with a book. ellie reads 1 or 2 stories out loud from her reader and then i read from a "fun" book. joey ends up in bed with us and is learning to sit still and listen. we started this cute book on friday

and we got our first snow fall! it melted when it hit the ground but none the less. its snow!! the kids were thrilled and wanted to put on their snow gear and play. i was not so thrilled. sob sob

and joey like this. is poured rain and the kids were tired after 3 late nights. we hosted a meeting wed night that lasted until 10, joey fell asleep but the older 2 were up. then thurs we were out late cutting wood...so fri afternoon movie was a GREAT idea. and i finished up the weeks laundry...
