nature

we hit a trail yesterday, it was nates choice of activity
it was so beautiful!
nate was excited to get going on our "journey"
vibrant colored leaves on the ground
and on the trees
i turned and busted nate eating the bread for the ducks
in the middle of the field this burst of color among the green
it was beautiful
me
nate and i played
he was the hunter, we had to find the monsters and save ourselves
this burnt much of his never ending energy
every stick, tree, rock was turned into a cannon, gun, machine gun, blaster, grenade...he used his super powers of flying, disappearing, hiding when ever he saw danger....human or animal
sigh to live like a child
we were out for 4 hours
it was a tiring day for sure!
i wish i was able to spend more time out side this fall, but i know as with everything this is a season. next yr i'll be back out there with both kids!

laundry&nature!

hee hee
not impressed!
she is getting SO big!
we had out first coop today, before i left i ran out of time to finish the laundry, so i put it aside to finish when i get home
instead i did this
the note reads
fold me AND out me away
BEFORE mel gets home
i wanted to clearly communicate
and it worked
i came home to a SPOTLESS house, floors vac'd and mopped, everything put away and not left in piles for me to put away
clutter gone!
AND
our bedroom was gutted and cleaned AND the furniture was moved around, i had wanted to do that for a long time
AND ellie was fed, cleaned and napping
i have the best husband. ever. i love you!
our first co-op was nature. i was very impressed by it. the gal who lead it was very prepared, props we brought in, lessons planned she went way out of the norm and brought it down to the kids level. there was a lesson, activity, a story then a nature walk...where I learned SO much. seriously it rocked. n and i had a blast!  we needed it!
nate with his nature bag
then we went to the 2nd coop, sign language! it was a bit long for nate, so i am thinking we will skip it and i will forfeit the tuition cost.  there is a sweet park on the property so i have already booked a coffee date with a friend for next week.  we will do the nature class then take nate to the park where my *poor socially deprived son can play with someone his own age while i chat, sip coffee and dine on carbs. ha.

* i am being sarcastic with a bit of cheek in tongue on the biggest myth of the home schooled, the social topic. ha  but i will admit i LOVE home schooling in our jammies and a coffee :) 0 comments

he finally got it!

last wk i decided to make school time more fun. cause i like fun.  i made up a 'game' everyday that nate has a great attitude and does his work the best he can, with no or minimal complaining i drop a bouncy ball in the glass jar. he can earn 1 a day or 2 at most. once he gets 4 (i said 5 but chris said that was a bit steep) he can choose a prize from the prize box.
i took him to the $ store to pick his own prizes
i am going to put a clause in this wk to stop ASKING for the toys. silly kid
so finally! after 5 LONG days he got his prise yesterday. above. he was SO excited
i went for a walk with a friend yesterday afternoon and came home to this
nate though i wouldn't notice is he out 4 more balls in the jar and a new prize for today
bawahhhhhhh silly kid!
he has to work for it! like we do!
a man must work for food you know and school is his job!
i thought it was funny 0 comments

silly shanagans

ellie wanted to go to bed last night, she took her blanket and tried to put it over her head. silly girl!
she's in a mega growth spurt, sleeping lots (yeah sleep training) and eating like her dad
i was cleaning up after supper and looked over to see this
nate was dancing to his phonics dvd. ellie was laughing at him

this afternoon we had art. ha
while cleaning out the playroom, purging and cleaning, i took out a lot of broken, unused toys and brought my printer box down
this box has been in my living room for 4 days now ans so far it's been
an airplane
a tool bench
a house
but most of all a rocket ship that he takes to the moon

so we painted it!  took an hour! nate actually stayed with the job for an hour
and now it's back in the living room....sigh.....from now on, he's only getting books, garage and boxes to play with! ha

flowers fade

a sobbing nate came and got me
he was so sad, crushed and depleted
i asked him "whats wrong bud?"
he said "mom, i have to show you something, outside, it's really, really bad. you are going to be sad. come i'll show you"
wondering what i the world had happened, nate took my hand and with quiet cries he took me out side
to my front flower garden
kneeled  down by my old ago bloomed lily bush that was, well, dead looking
nate looked down and said "mom, they died. i tried to save them for you"
out of the corner of my eye i saw my green watering can, on it's side, with a few drops of water beside the spout
"i said oh bud! that's ok! these are perennials they come back every year!"
nate said :mom, are you not sad?  or mad?"
i laughed and said "no! they come back, they are like bears the close up and sleep all winter long then (with my hands raising to the sky) come back, bigger and stronger and prettier!"
nate said while throwing his tiny body into may arms "oh mom, i am SO glad about this. i was so sad for you, i thought your flowers were dead and dead forever"
i told him how much i love him and how my heart is so happy that he watered those dead flowers for me with all his might doing everything he knew to make them better

reminds me of my fav verse (the very first one i memorized)

the grass withers, the flowers fade, but the word of the lord lasts forever

makes me wonder what will come of me, us this winter season.  will we grow and come back stronger as we hibernate? will be burst this coming spring? will we make it, survive and bloom?  how about you? how will you spend your winter?  what will you look like this spring?
