anyways! last mon i woke up feeling MOTIVATED and since this hasnet happenned much this summer, like this might be the first..i went with it!
i started what turned into a 2 day job, beause i had so many kids running through the house! on mon, i finally KICKED them all out. and went back to work...
tuesday i finished the project...project "purge the kitchen cabnets!" i did it! 2 bags to take to sally ann and 1 box filled with glass...and this is the end result. i decided to snap pics bec its a job that NO ONE would see and yet, it took so much time!
in the back of the top cup board, i found nate's baby gripe water! haha
in side those bad boys! plastic on one side, glass on the other. all mixed up and not matching plastic had to go! the glass wear is all lined up and again, broken and mix matched had to go!
med's and spices. all old and expired went out to the trash.
coffee and tea, mugs and its all matchy match
i got all the cupboards done! everything is clean and organized. so fun! i had friends over that night and they picked through my boxes and bags and took a lot of it home. thats what friends are for ha!
tues night i invited a few friends over...and they brought their friends...and there was 14 of us in total. ha it was a fun night and we cant wait to do it again!
thurs morning we set off to hali for the long weekend of jon's roof repair....the night before chris and i went to the cabin to load up the scaffolding...thurs morning i snapped this pic before we rolled out at 11:30...which i was SO excited to leave a head of time! the plan was to drop the trailer off at jon's and go to hali for the night then fri morning shawn and chris would head nack to jon's to start the job of re-roofing his house....
we stopped for gas, food and coffee and hit the road. 20 mins out of moncton black smoke filled the air....we pulled off the highway...
NO! a fat tire!
after trying to put a spare on it and trying to make it work for the 45 min drive to jon's chris realised this is NOT an easy flat tire fix. there was an issue with the rim now broken as well.
after some back and forth discussion on what to do. we decided that we would un hitch the trailer and nate and i would stay with it on the side of the highway. i was NOT about to leave 5000 worth of stuff on the side of the highway! chris went to town to get a new tire/rim with the girls
watching among the rocks and bugs
nate entertained himself bu building a shelter
he spent a good hour working on it
there he is hiding in the shelter. i sat on the rocks instead. it was SO hot
waiting....and waiting....
keeping a happy attitude
more of nates shelter
i thought he did a really good job!
2 hrs later chris was back. guess what? the tire was FLAT. the same tire he just had FIXED! and the rim was unfix able. chris took out the chain saw, and i have to saw. the night before when we were loading up the trailer with supplies i said to chris " why are you taking a CHAIN SAW???" he said "you never know" this chain saw ended up fixing the trailer...more on that to come.....after trying a few different things and realizing the NEW tire and rim WONT work, he had to go BACK to town and buy 2 NEW tires and rims....
nate and sitting by the side of the road for another 2 hours. thats 4 HOURS of waiting in the heat for tires! the sun moved around 3:30 and gave us some shade! around 4:30 chris came back with the new tires
and guess what? the new tires were 15" instead of 14" so chris had to use the chain saw to CUT the side of the trailer off completely to mount the new tires...we had to then unload the trailer and reload it to balance the weight and tie it down....it was 5:30 at this point....we headed to sackville and got food, then dropped the tralier and chris off at jon's house for the night. i left with the kids around 6:30 to head to hali...we rolled into hali at 8:30....after a very frustrating, hot and added expense day
BUT the most amazing things was this. we were able to keep our cool. solve the problem, show the kids GREAT life lesson(s) and we did not have 1 fight, chris and i, the kids etc....i was so tired when i got to my sisters!
but the most important lesson of all! ALWAYS pack a chain saw, you never know if you'll need it!
