the last week!

soooo.....long story short, i lost my phone in the river.  it had a tonne of pics on it, and i was SO upset to those them....but chris came to the rescue by buying me a NEW phone to replace it!  i told chris that if i thought he would have bought me a new phone, i would have tossed my old one in the the river last yr! haha

so boo on losing a week of pics BUT yea! for chris buying me a new phone!
we've been keeping busy at the cabin doing school, then in the afternoons we paint, play, watch shows or go for walks. i painted these 2 last week
 my painting area. so relaxing!

so...i have this love of feeding my critters, so i bought 2 bird feeders and asked chris to modify them into squirrel feeders...then i had the girls paint them. so fun!  a part of our morning routine is to feed the critters, then watch them come. we have squirrels,  blue jays! and other birds that come.
 my critter feeders!
 we play A LOT outside!
my joey!  every day she comes to me and tells me how she would like her hair done that day. so fun!
the one and ONLY thing that im SO proud we accomplished!  we spent 2 weeks making our own "creation books" based on this art curric that i bought.  SOOOO fun!  each kid has their own book, and did it themselves, this is ellies
 we painted first, then wrote
 mine
nates!!  look at this!  i was BLOWN away that he not pnly participated, but did a GREAT job!
 nate!
 joey!
 joey!
this is what a typical book school morning looks like
we came home on wed. i wasnt even finished unpacking when joey started drawing
 braids today!
 and we had SNOW!
i am SOOOO done with april!  the cold and yucky weather!  the virus and lack of social interactions....im DONE!

im at the house for another night, then im packing the kids up and going back to the cabin...i just really love it there.  chris will join us on sunday....and then we start another week of this virus!  cant wait till its over!  0 comments

Aunt Shirley

this is a post with out pics.

i use to have more time to blog about life, my thoughts and feelings. but with having the girls so close together with an older kid and schooling i had to pull back on my blog time

but this is a post i have to take that extra minute to do

ive been so blessed to have not suffered a great loss. both of my parents, and in laws are alive and healthy. all my siblings are alive and we talk often. all my in law siblings are also in good health.  all  my nieces and nephews are well

ive never suffered the loss of death

but this past jan i lost my aunt.  my aunt shirley, my mom's sister.

my aunt shirley was special to me.  other than talking to chris about her, i didnt share much about her publicly. because our relationship was personal and private.

after i lost ben, i went through a dark time.  in the midst of the darkness, one day i got an email from my aunt shirley.  she shared with me her story. one that would make a great book!  i sobbed as i read and returned her email. which started an email relationship.  she understood my pain.  i could only under stand  a small part of hers, because i could never compare my loss with what she went through.

that started almost a decade of emails. back and forth...i shared my heart with her, she shared hers.  over the last decade my life changed. i had 2 more girls and brought them to visit her and uncle vic on the island, with a bottle of red (her fav)

since she's passed, ive gone to message her a dozen of times. only to stop to remember she's not here any more.

i miss her

i miss my aunt shirley

i wish i told her how special she was to me before she passed

this life is too short to not share how important people are to you

i miss you aunt shirley

my weekend alone and week 265 at the cabin!

i delivered ellie and joey's love letters to jessy. he told me that he loves ellie even more. haha.

last wkend i had the AMAZING time away at the house by myself!  it was so delightful, i talked to family and friends, emailed, read, watched tv. went for a walk, slept...and i did it ALONE!  it was AMAZING!!!!!  thanks chris!

i also bathed these cuties!
i mean come on now, arent they the cutest little things!  ha
chris came on sun with the kids, this whole social distancing is hard for adult, its torture for the kids.  i found jessy like this....and this is another reason why my windows will never be cleaned!
 "let me in"
i decided to take the kids back to the cabin.  its just too hard on me and them to keep them all separated.
so...everyone knows i love my little critters. i feed them daily when im at the cabin..."red" the little squirrel almost ate out of nates hand!
 see how close he got!
by the end of the summer, they will be eating out of our hands!
 chasing the critters
when chris is at the cabin, we make a habit of kicking ALL the kids out of the porch in the morning so we can sit on the table and drink our coffee together.  chris has noticed that the birds and critters come waiting for their food!  its the funniest thing, and i think he's starting to get why i love my little critters...so much that i bought 2 bird houses and asked chris to modify them to turn them into squirrel feeders. bawahhhh!
i started this baby last sun, i read 1 chapter and knew i couldnt read it unless i was alone or uninterrupted...so i put it back on the shelf...
 joey reading outside with me!
 see!
sun night i had a bon fore with the kids, this was BEFORE we were banned from having fires...insert eye roll
 love this pic!
great idea nate! open the jiffy pop with a hammer!
 it smelt so good....
 busted eating it....after i said i wasnt going to have any...i did...i had a lot...cough...

pt 2

we took MANY walks in the woods last week, we did A LOT of school, and we spent time together. i saw this tree, check out the size of the wood pecker hole!  its huge!

me on the trail!
 so beautiful
so on wed, i think. the kids said "im BORED"  so i said "out on your boots and jacket and meet me outside" then grabbed 2 large bags.  i told the kids we were going to walk up and down the street picking up trash and bottles!  this turned out to be SO fun!  i ended up meeting 2 of my neighbors and they finally met "chris's wife"  we were gone for over an HOUR!  we came back with both bags FILLED!  papa, you would have been so impressed. 1 large bag of bottles! and another of trash.  the kids decided that they earned at least 1.00 each and decided to spend it on candy! hahaha. it turned out to be a lot of fun. and once the snow melts we will do it again!
nate and i had a bon fire alone thurs night....we had the best fire going...i took some cool pics....
 a heart!
 see!

:
the girls were suppose to be in bed, it was 8:30....whos at the door?
nate said "go in!" and she did
nate was sad when i told him to put it out around 9ish...he had to get to bed. its a school night!

now that bon fires are banned, im sooooo sad.....
we came to the house on fri..or was it thurs? who knows...so me to get groceries and supplies...we got mail!  QUINN! send the kids the BEST Easter treats! so FUN!  THANK YOU QUINN!!!!
then to kill time before bed, i took the ids on another walk. this time around the neighborhood
 see!
the kids did some sidewalk chalk....
back at the cabin!  ellie and i snuggling, way past her bed time!

thurs afternoon i took the kids back to the cabin for the long Easter weekend.  chris decided, much to our surprise! to spend the whole weekend with us at the cabin, instead of the original plan of staying at the house for 2 days (so he could be in the shop) and 2 days with us. splitting up the long weekend 50/50.  chris came thurs night with pizza, so i didnt have to cook!  the kids were SOOOOO  surprised!  we ate pizza! then put the kids to bed.  chris and i watched a movie on my ipad in our room and stayed up way to late talking...we ended up sleeping in on fri until....drum roll please....until 12:03! NOON!!! it was amazing!  we spent good friday together at the cabin, it snowed all day so we didnt leave.  the kids played....and i picked up this bad boy....
and read the entire thing in 8 hrs.  365 pages.  THANK YOU chris!
it was SO good.  we spent good friday together at the cabin. reading, watching movies, playing and eating.  at bed time we had our first "family" devotion. we put the kids to bed together, i went to finish my book while my older boys watched a show.  chris and i went to bed with the window open....so nice...

then he suggested i go into town to get some food, we ran out of eggs and milk...then go to the house for a few hrs....alone....so i did....

soon ill pack up and head back to the cabin, with 2 new books! and an ipad of movies... to spend another week in the woods. my woods. my happy place....

BUT none of this would be possible with out the significance of this weekend.  HE came. HE died. HE rose again.  I choose to serve him...for unto us is born this day in the city of david...my savior. my lord. my reason

"the grass may wither, the flowers may fade. but the word of the lord will last forever"  Is 40:8.
