yesterday we went on a home school field trip to kings landing
it's about a 2.5 hr drive each way
i spent almost 5 hrs driving and 3.5 hrs there
it was worth it!
the kids got a hands on, engaging, educational account on how christmas was spent 100+ yrs ago
nate left his mark above, ha
then he played with some of the toys that the kids would have gotten, there was a slide show
and off we went walking through the village, i didn't take many pics cause i was enjoying the day!
we got to the house we were to spend the afternoon getting ready for a christmas party, the kids ages were divided up. first room was the kitchen. i was nominated to help so i didn't take any pics. i was working the stove, we made ginger bread cookies, fudge and learnt how a kitchen worked in the late 1800's
then we spent time making decorations, we made a bunch of paper chains, then strung popcorn and berries and learnt how the school kids spent their days
the pantry
the dining room
more paper decorations
then we went to the party room where the boys were educated on how to treat a lady, very interesting how things have changed
then we played party games, again no pics, i was participating and had a lot of fun!
then we had hot chocolate, ate our fudge, talked and hung out
nate got to pic a cookie off the treethen it was time to go home!
it was a long day but a lot of fun!

home education is fun. it's a lot easier than i thought it would be but i do have my days....i've also decided to chill more and let the house 'go' for now...besides it's just the first yr or 2 that i have to be there all.the.time...next yr nate will be working independantly more which will free me up a bit more...but i do like watching him get things!
and i pray daily. haha
