my book! it took me a few days to read. not bec it was good! but bec the girls wouldnt stop fighting long enough for me to read. haha

it was a great read! ive wanted to read it for awhile and scored it at the library book sale

school storage. i use this cart or organize the girls books. works like a charm!

can you believe im still wearing shorts at the end of september! thats crazy! the weather is SO warm!

this is what a play date looks like. the girls had a GREAT lesson on never leaving their freinds room looking like this. the girls left before the mess had to be picked up. joey and ellie cleaned it up together. the lesson was learned!

his bike is fixed! c and i decided to pay for the repair. im proud of how he handles his money and he works hard for it. i couldnt let his next pay check pay for another repair! anyways! he's happy to be able to ride. he is meeting up with friends on saturday. the boys are all driving their mopeds to meet up. im NOT ready to let him go!!!!

school!

i started reading this textbook and i love it! it lines up with what i feel and im learning to embrace this new world of charlotte mason!

nate had an appointment, so i sat in the waiting room and read some more!

we are almost back to full school. i am still waiting on 2 more courses for nate but we have enough books on hand to start the yr!

For the first quarter of nate's gr 9! HIGH SCHOOL! he is studying astronomy. apologia came out with a new course/text book. i love it! it's updated, and so shiny and new. i asked him to please take care of it! his sisters will be using it as well!

he's finishing up grammar from last yr and ive decided that i will find something else for him grammar/language arts wise. im moving away from work sheets and endless pages of questions and moving towards living books....but until then, its pace style work books for grammar!

he's also taking the art of argument and is enjoying it!

geography

his literature list for this yr is big! For this month he's reading the original Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. Old English is so much fun to read! actually, he is enjoying this book!

his math is math u see. but i passed that on to his dad. ha

that's his slow start back to school...ill be adding courses as they arrive in the mail

the girls!

my plan/flow of the day is this

each girls has one on one with me for their core subjects. math, spelling, grammar, reading and what ever else they are struggling with. it usually takes an hr and 1/2 each

then we come together for our joint classes for this quarter its morning time-we read a story/poem and devotion, then science and our read out loud books

and im using last yr's spelling as a review, next wk ill pop her up to level 2

we read charlottes web last week. i simply loved it! i have never read this book before and i was thrilled to read it with the girls. great book!

science is flying creatures. we finished up the unit on birds and are studying bats

read out loud. but im switching it. i think it's too child like and the words are too simple. i rather read something that has more meat on it

the girls! but ill be switching this up and out as i find new stuff to do with them

late night book club crafting. with book club on pause, i decided to spent the evening with the girls working on the fun things i had planned for book club. the book was "because of winn-dixie" we made a book about them and "littmus lozenges"

and im slowly getting use to the new routine....school definitely fills my day and that's ok! ill post more as the school yr picks up!

life!

meeka wants to go shopping with me! she loves chewing and chasing bags around.

chris has been gone a lot, to work at the cabin. so im solo parenting. the last 2 wks were BRUTAL. i think with back to school and the less amount of "free" time the girls had, i was faced with a lot of personality and behavioral issues that needed to be changed and worked on. it was a rough emotional week for me. the yelling, the fights, the screams, tears and hugs when we worked through a problem. i was left feeling exhausted. but its worth it. i know, i know! the easy thing to do is send them to school. but that's not what im suppose to do.

so i take joy in the evenings when they are asleep in my bed. the girls take turns sleeping with me. and i love it

we did a soft start back to school. we started back up on our bird study. i was walking meeka and came home to the girls making bird cages with items they found around the house. so creative!

joey! im trying to talk her into getting bangs. i think she would look adorable. shes not on board!

meeka! she wants to know if this is "being on the couch" hahaha

with the tightening the rope on the girls and making changes in behavior, ive had to get med, raise my voice and punish. i dont normally yell, im more of the laid back parent. but chris wasnt around so i held my own. i found this in ellies room one night

it says

mom you are rude, mean, and i didnt like it. i am trying to be nice please turn back to normal. please. i dont want a mean mom for the rest of my life. i love you when you are yourself. please, please, please turn back. i want my old mom back.

when chris is home ive made a BIG attempt to have family meals. whether its lunch, supper or in-between. we sit down together and eat. this is the BEST pic i could get. ha

once the kids go to bed, its late. the girls go to bed around 8-8:30. nate after 9. so im not alone much. so i spend my time with this little lady
