the last of aug!

i finally got to read this book.  honestly? it wasnt wrth the hype.  i found it rather blah

my friend and i spent last sunday foraging!  i signed us up for the class!  holy information overload batman!  the guide was a walking encyclopedia! so much information!  there was so much to take away!

these mushrooms are good!

this white one is bad. it will kill you!
basically my backyard is a pharmacy!  these berries and leaves are full of via d!
anti inflammation!
walnuts!
ok, i picked a cute bouquet!
i learned so much! and have so much more to learn. a great class, well worth the money
after we sat down to a feast of locally sourced food!  i had lobster and really liked it!  i tried almost everything and liked most of it...including the dandelion jam!  it was a nice way to spend a sunny sunday afternoon
i started this sun night and finished it monday.  i got to the last page and went "what? i did NOT see that coming!" a fun way to end a book...i havent read anything else since. ive been cleaning up the house and went into the school room...i did plan sept art classes and book club as well as the not back to school palooza! so ive been some what productive!

this has been the best summer and i dont want it to end!

nate got his new scooter and he's off!

at least i still have meeka and the girls!
we started owls in the family!  3 chapters in and im loving it!
then i got sick. but joey did my hair! great job joey!
lots of ellie cuddles!
i can not even believe the summer is OVER!  Noooooooo!  i had such an enjoyable summer.  but im looking forward to what the yr will hold for us...my plan is to take next week and plan our lessons.  the next 5 yrs will be my most intensive yrs homeschooling.  but i feel like im getting prepared for it.  i absolutely love living out here. i dont miss the moncton house at all.  i dont even mind driving nate for work...now that i have a month or so off (he will drive his scooter until its too cold) ive filled up the week with school stuff....i am planning on a slow start with the girls.  lots of reading books and following their interests.  ive been able to connect with local home schoolers with kids my girls ages so im looking forward to cultivating new friendships and possibly take up some "handicrafts/homesteading"....and maybe another dog or 2...ha!

swimming!

why so happy joey?  because she took the swim test and PASSED on her first try!  she took on her fear, faced it and came out with the magic band that allows her to swim with out me sitting on the edge of the pool...what does that mean?  FREEDOM for me!  i can sit in the shade and read while they swim! ha
she was so proud of herself.  look at that smile under her hat

i officially have big kids!
i want this chair.  imagine curling up inside of it with a book...its on sale for 399.99!  i didnt buy it ...but i want it. ha

with nate being in the states we took the girls to magic mtn for the day.  on the way in i found 2 free meal vouchers!  so we enjoyed a free lunch!

im not one for water parks but this day was fun!  chris and i went in the wave pool with the girls, the lazy river, the hot tub.  the lines for the slides were too long for me to wait but the girls were allowed to run off together

joey had a great day!

im really liking this freedom stage!  i was able to read while the girls played!

we met up with nate on the way home and heard about all his fun.  i think the mac's had a blast travelling with teens!  the kids are too funny!

building update!

its going slowwwwwww.....the heat and being tired doesnt help plus we all got sick this week.  we hope to have it weather tight in the next 2 wks...ive taken to helping out when i can...and the wood piles!  but ive been sick the last 2 days so thats on hold
then my car got sick. real sick.  this is just some of the things she needs fixed.  we decided to pause the building and chris is going to fix her up.  its a lot cheaper than buying a new car....but realistically ill need a newer car in a yr or 2....same with chris....sigh....
chris took vacation last wk to work on the house.  nate went to the states with my sister and her family. they had a great time.  theme parks/water parks. lots of fun...meanwhile we stayed home and worked. ha.  chris got a group of friends to help install the roof tresses/gables! they are DONE!

chris finished putting the plywood on the roof of the garage/entrance way/addition and started shingling the left side of the garage...then we got sick....

but! in the middle of feeling defeated and discouraged, tired and overwhelmed....chris's friend organized a small group of men to come tomorrow from 8-noon to help with the shingles!  im so thankful!

meeka!

this is going to be my view from my bedroom balcony!  i cant wait!

this post is all about my dog.  so feel free to keep on scrolling!

i love this dog! or as chris calls her my "attachment" because she's pretty much always with me.  when i shower she comes in the bathroom, every morning she's outside my door waiting for me.

she is so calm and can not get enough love or pets! she's forever sitting beside me tossing her nose at me to be petted.

waiting to be petted!
she's pathetic!  and i love her so much!
love me!

seriously!  we spend our evenings like this.  i read and rub her head
its perfect
