the things they say

the kids say the funniest things and i am forever forgetting to write them down, so in the spirit of staying positive and not discouraged. i wrote down a small amount of the funny things the kids say...

starting with johana. cause she says the most of the things that crack me up

last week i said "joey, i love you. youre the best"  and she says "you are the best super hero mommy"  ha

i was reading a book to the girls on the couch and joey hops up and says "pause your reading, i have to pee"  PAUSE!  and we did

chris went in late one night to kiss the girls good night.  joey, in her sleep says "leave" ha
a few nights later i went in to kiss the girls, i said "joey i love you" and she opens ONE eye and says "go out" hahaha

we were finishing ellies read out loud, where i read out loud to the girls, joey use to not stay long enough to read a sentence but lately she's been staying for the whole story. so at the end i closed the book and was about to say "the end" when joey pipes up and says "AMEN!"

again, joey.  she follows me around most of the day.  one morning i was heading to the bathroom to pee. and she said "where are you going?" i said to pee, i went into the main bathroom upstairs which has a large brown chair in it (comfy to sit in while the girls bath) and joey says while following me in "oh good! i can watch you" and she sat in the chair and did. haha

ellie

the other day she was asking me about santa and if he was real.  i explained that the story of santa is just a story (we dont do santa) and not real BUT the santa she sees at the mall is a real person dressed in a costume (santa) to play up the story of santa.  she was confused because i told her santa wasnt real BUT she "sees" him everywhere...

then she says " are reindeer real?" i said yes
she says "can they fly?"
and i said "ellie, tell me can reindeer fly?"
she says "no"
she gets quiet, i know she's thinking.
then she says "so, if santa is not real and reindeer dont fly. moms and dad's are LYING to their kids.  lying is not right, that is wrong.  they are lying"

ummm yea....truth!

nate doesnt have any funny stories. ha but he has BIG questions.  a few of the ones he's asked me this week are...

-"if there was no sin in the world before the fall....how did satan get kicked out of heavan?"
and
-" why did it say that the holy spirit showed up in acts on the day of Pentecost that it was the first time when the dove appeared over jesus when he ws baptized?"
-"why does things that are good seam bad and bad seems good?"

ummm yeah.....thats just a few of his big questions.  a lot of times i write the questions down and respond later when the girls are in bed and we can talk...and i can think of the answer! or ill say "go ask your dad!" ha

and thats just a peek into the funny sayings...

dentist update!  so i had my check up on friday.  those who know me well know i HATE the dentist, i have major anxiety over it.  im super anal about taking care of my teeth, i brush 3 time (or more) a day, floss daily! and still are prone to cavities ESP after pregnancy....last yr i was cavity free!  so i was a bit concerned for my check up!

good news and bad news!

good news NO CAVITIES!!!!
bad news! i broke a tooth that needs to get fixed, so ill be in the chair for a few hours....BUT i dont have any cavities again!!!!  oh and im going to have a filling replaced while im frozen, its worn down...but  NO CAVITIES!

i was so stoked that i went and bought a pound of fudge and ate it!  then brushed my teeth and used mouthwash....

funny story.  on the cruise after each meal i would go brush my teeth. one night we had dinner with friends we made and were going to h2o after dinner, i actually said "ill meet you guys up there, i have to go brush and floss first" hahahaha

bass pro!

thursday was turning into a cluster of madness for me and the kids.  so we stopped school and went to bass pro to hang out for a bit before the after school kids came. so fun!  after  visiting the fish, joey found the dirt and played with it...
ellie shot some ducks.  she knocked down the gallery twice!  shes a natural
 great job!
joey went for a ride.  too soon this will be for real, then ill really be crying!
 i see something!
then joey got comfortable by the fire. she sis this herself.  she told me "i wish i could live here"
nate had a snack and started on his next school book
ellies outfit for the day.  i let her wear it in public
notice the pillow for her feet. haha
the girls were playing "christmas morning"  they would go to sleep, then wake up and run to the tree and pretend to open the presents under the tree
a sad day.  sigh.  this car seat was nate's! and it expired. so i did what i had to do
snip!  and out its gone, to the landfill. what i waste. i get it thou, for safety. but i was kinda sad to cut this one up. i remember the day i bought it and nate's first car ride in it. that was 9 YRS ago!  time is quickly flying by!

siding!

we rented a portable mill to cut up the logs chris cut down, to use for siding.  it was SO muddy.  like gross, sticky, mucky.  i carried joey to the shed and left the kids inside the whole time i was there.  i took nate home with me when i left, it was miserable to be out there. anyways, it was so neat to see the process.  the mill is basically  huge ban saw
 the men working
the logs that we are using
 thats a lot of work
the mud field!  what a mess!
i peeked in on the kids, they were fine, haha
chris would use the thumb to pick up the log and put it on the mill
 fresh siding!
how we are laying them to dry
 the muck!
 siding!
so neat to see, and i love the look of it!  theres no way they will get it all done today, but im hoping we can get a large chunk done! 0 comments

sophie!

i finally let sophie get the under the knife. nates been asking for a long time to cut it up bec he saw that they are sometimes filled with black mold....
 snip
 cut
joey was devastated that we cut sophie up
poor guy.  all 3 of my kids chewed on her....and guess what?
NO black mold!  too bad! 0 comments

how am i doing you ask?

 like this
 and that
 some of this
and can i get an AMEN!

i dunno what the deal is.  but the last few weeks have been brutal.  im finding myself cranky, lacking joy, screaming or worse using my "quiet" voice which means i am beyond mad and you better do EXACTLY what i said. the girls are tag teaming me with the "moms" its a chorus  i hear. all. day. long.  the MOM! MOM! MOM!  ive been locking my bathroom door to get some toilet time in ALONE.. the constant demand, from meals and food, school and errands, talking and listening, solving problems, splitting up fights, cranky kids, house work that NEVER Stops, spills that need to be wiped, sticky walls from sticky hands (JOEY!) messes and toys, crumbs to mud...etc...the demand for me, is constant.

and its exhausting me

i never before cherished SILENCE.  i beg for it, i long for SILENCE.  to go more than 2 minutes with out a MOM being yelled at me

i know this is what i signed up for, but man parenting these little wieners is HARD work!  i was talking to chris about this the other day and i found myself cheering up when i said "i know i can do this, i went through MUCH worse with nate at this age and look how he is turning out!"  who woulda thought my strong willed, over powering, determined boy is my easiest kid!  school with him is the best part of my day.  its calm and relaxing.  he knows what to do and gets it done....there is hope!

over all we are good!  im just super tired and looking forward to the weekend....and its only wed! ha

but i read this today and it totally made me smile "you are my quiet place of retreat, i wait for your word to renew me" ps 119:114

and he does, each day, each  night. he renews me!

pd day

fri was our annual pd day in freddy,  aralee picked me up after 7.  i had to get up at 6:30.  oh my stars. it was brutal.  i text ed this pic to my sis in Israel, she was waked bec of the time change and was like "why are YOU up so early?"  she knows my bed and i have a love relationship until at least 7:30, most days i REFUSE to get up until after the bus picks all the kids up.  it gives me the reminder and a silly reason why i love home school. i can chill in the mornings and dont have to rush the kids to the bus stop....so my pre coffee o.j was assaulting my throat at that ungodly hour.....then i washed it down with coffee. ha

its a 2.5 hr drive each way so a and i had 5 HOURS of UNINTERRUPTED time to catch up on life, that alone made the day worth it to me. ha

and it snowed on the way there!
the place was decorated cute and simple.  the theme was rooted
we made crafts, i took a photography class, a devotion, a self care class, and the last session of the day was assessments. that alone made the day for me.  i loved the new concepts of assessing your kids through school and life.  tests are such a small portion of assessing your childs skills.  very eye opening.  we had meals make, served AND cleaned up after us.  fresh coffee and desserts all day long, fresh fruits and crisp salad and the best apple cider ive ever had.  it was a great day!
see how young we can look with NO kids with us!!  haha

 "nothing"
joey put her arm around ellie's waste. so cute!
 my kids. love them!
tues night was nate's date night.  i took him to see the movie wonder.  it was cheap night, it cost me 4.95!  say what?  ill be back on a tuesday for sure....we got there early bec i knew it would be full. and it was.  so nate did some school work.  he was only suppose to read 2 chapters of his book but ended up finishing it last night. he LOVED the book.  he said it was the best book he's read...he's also obsessed with the military and all things war related...
we had a great time.  i think its good for nate to see "relaxed mom" and not teacher mom or mean mom...
i put my feet up and closed my eyes....10 mins later the theater was filled!

wonder was an AWESOME movie. go see it!
ellie working away.  i taped paper on the table for anyone to draw, color and create.  the kids love it
ellie showing me some of her work
we took school to the library today.  we spent 3 hours there. the girls played while nate and i worked
 love her
