joey!

i often look at the kids every few days and think "man, their looks are changing" i was watching joey play at the table while my java brewed and i was captivated by her quiet play.  so innocent. so safe. so cute. so focused.  its rare that she sits still, she is just a little ball of busy.  shes loosing the toddler look and is changing into a young girl. sigh
so mom and dad stopped by on wed, they are on their way to montreal. my dear, precious aunt shirley (who has been such a great support to me in the past) lost her beloved, unexpectedly.  i wish that i could have gone with my parents, but taking 3 kids to a funeral is not a good idea!  so  mom and dad stopped to have a quick visit on the way

and by quick i mean quick.  why?  because my girls were little terrors!!!  they were super over tired from 2 late nights, cranky, hyper and not pleasant. i welcomed the distraction because it was a brutal day.  so thanks mom and dad for the coffee and hugs of support!
ellie got her letter and tooth money from quinn!  you are awesome quinn!  she wants to buy more candy for everyone!
she looks cute, but man they were a handful that day!
joey 5 seconds on the highway.  we went to visit chris to bring him clothes, food and water.  he was working at the land clearing the driveway that night.  when i picked him up we drove to the van to put the stuff away. then we locked ourselves in the van! and talked in quiet.  it gave me the boost to get through the rest of the day!
the days are long but the years are short 0 comments

the rocks part 1

thurs i packed a back pack stuffed to the brim with food and headed out with 5 kids to hope well rocks.  we skipped this field trip the last few yrs, but decided to do it this yr.  there was hardly anyone their from the home school group.  thurs is a busy day with home school activities so a lot off ppl couldnt come. but we did make new connections and i (we) had the best day!
we had the guided tour. the guide was amazing. but because joey was the youngest there by about 4 yrs (next to ellie) the trip was geared toward older kids. so i stayed in the back with my littles
the girls liked looking at the displays
 lava!
then we went outside for the rocks
whatcha thinking nate?

the weather was perfect. it was so beautiful out!
thanks micah for holding joey because she would have jumped over and fell into the water!
tour along the rocks. at this point i sent the older kids off and stayed back with joe
it was such a beautiful day
 off they go
but i stayed behind to watch joey have the time of her life
dirt! mud!rocks!sand! and WATER!  this is joeys dream
nate came back to say hi

pt 2

there is nothing like the sun and hearing the water
joey kept herself fully entertained and the ppl walking by, by throwing rocks into the waves
by the end of the afternoon she was SOAKED. she fell in the water then sat in it. but she had FUN!  i ended up carrying her up the hill on the way back, it was a lot of walking

her shorts were soaked and wouldnt stay up!
 but the memories she made!
 taking a break
it was around this point that the kids were hot, tired, hungry and very thirsty. so i had a quick pep talk about keeping out attitudes good when we dont feel like it, i also told them not to complain because it doesnt make the situation any better but makes it worse by focusing on it.  we headed back for the long walk along the beach, up the stairs, up the hills and to the park with out ONE complaint. i was super proud of all the kids

 the kids had a blast
judah was the captain
joey told me she was being a giraffe
 ellie was ellie
 boo
 sigh. joey!
love it, the best pic of the day

the weekend

friday night was weird. chris went out with friends for a guys night, i ended up in bed super early with this adorable girl to snuggle until chris got home. he was out quite late, it was just weird not having him around and close to home. but he had a really good time with the guys, and im happy for him!

saturday was a family work day at the land.  chris went in first to set up and i came in around noon with the kids.  first, the girls played and made this HUGE mess BUT i am NOT complaining.  they played for 3 HOURS together and i was able to get house work done. it was awesome but i was impressed with the mess they made. ha  and i LOVE listening to them play together. so cute
dont worry! the baby is not alone. ellie told me sky was babysitting her! haha. love it
and i found joey like this
trying not to smile, knowing i was taking a picture, she played her for about 15 mins...cant be comfortable!
