last sunday, we used out free passes from the library (saving us 50.00!) and hit up kings landing. normally and originally i planned this to be a school trip during the week. but i realized that the kids and i wanted chris to be there. so the only day we could do it was last sun. we skipped church and spent the day together. kings landing is a replica of the pioneer days in n.b. 8 of the houses are the actual house that was build back in the mid 1800's-early 1900's. the houses were moved from their original spots and brought to kings landing in the 1970's to create the village. they added a historical museum that had all the infor about the houses, including a census of who lived there, the live stock and added information about the ppl who owned the houses. i could have spent an hr in there reading all the info...but the kids wanted to move on...if i was thinking, i should have snapped pics of the information about the houses, to have the info on hand when we visited the houses...anyways!
it was truly a FUN day. the first day in a long time that i really enjoyed myself. i was silly and laughing, the kids didnt know what to think of it. it was just a perfect day. the weather was crisp. not too hot, not too cold....
this house was an mock up of what the early settlers would have made the first yr to live in. a bug out hold in the ground with a roof on it!
an African Canadian family home. there was 4 brothers and their families that lived in it!
kid shot
the scenery was amazing
running up to a living house. so basically the houses had ppl "living" in them, they were in character for the time period of the house, they acted out the actual ppl who lived in it. you could talk to them, stay as long as want or move on. the woman did their chores, the men worked in the fields. it was really neat to watch
the girls LOVED the beds. in every house i would hear joey say to ellie "pretend we live in this house, this is my bed, that in yours" i showed the girls the pot under the bed. haha
chris showed the kids how the farm equipment worked
deep man talk..
we visited barns, and fields, the mill and blacksmith, the store and grocery and so much more
walking to the saw mill
