thursday afternoon/after school a sever case of the "Im bored" set in nate. ha. i remedied that by giving him a bottle of water, 3 small bowls of kitchen items (flour, baking soda and oatmeal) as well as dish soap. i told him to make an experiment out of them, mix them and see what happens
45 mins later he was done. he never showed me what he discovered, ha. cause he was too busy having fun!
this week is n.b march break and it was COLD! i cant remember a march break being his cold! we did a normal week of school to catch up from what we missed last week. we plan on skipping town next week to join up with quinn and charlie (n.s has their march break next week) if everything goes to my loose schedule, nate will be finishing up his reading, writing, math and unit study next week....then im gonna have to come up with something else to study to take us till june..... i have a few ideas, ill wait and see how it goes this month! love the freedom to go at nate's pace
funny nate
yesterday he wa bring a turkey with his math. he is a whiz at math and i normally teach the lesson once and he grasps the concept. this month he's been stubborn and just doesn't want to try yo learn. its not too hard, and it's not something that he should be struggling with, i know my son! he's just being stubborn about it
anyways. i told him that in life, sometimes we have to do something we dont't want to do and we have to choose which way to go. good attitude or bad attitude. i told him he IS doing his math and he had to choose
he choose the good side (as he calls it) sat down and did his work. i went to mark it and discovered that he got 20 out of 30 questions WRONG. this NEVER happens so i knew he just wasn't in to it. i sat him back down and explained that i was going to erase all of the answers and we will sit and do it again, together. i told him that he has to try, work hard and push through even when he doesn't WANT to. that we can tell our bodies to do something
i retaught the lesson again. about 1/2 way through the problems he looks up at me and says "mom, you have changed, you dont yell anymore and get mad at me when i am being bad. and you have so much patience, you choose to do the right thing too!"
why, why must they listen and repeat BACK to us what we teach? hahahaha
i will admit, i have worked so hard the last 6 months on mt patience level and not yelling. i am not a patience person. ask my mom and dad. haha. but i decided that i want my school to be a place of peace and patience even when my kids are being turkey heads
im no where near where i want to be, but i am learning my lessons on this home school journey. they were right, home schooling causes the moms to change and grow more than the kids! ha
a great way to end the week!
we did a fun mad science yesterday morning. bec its march break i invited nates buddy weston and nelson to join us, they made a mess so i assume they had fun.....i wouldn't know i was in the back getting my chatter on with other moms. hahahaha
happy weekend everyone!
