i got my front room cleaned! tree is down and put away, and it's all cleaned and ready until next year....i am playing with the idea of turning it into the school room....
nap time!!!
so, ellie has this trick she's started about a week ago. around 11:30ish she tells me she wants a nap, climbs the stairs, goes to her room, turns hr music on, takes her blanket and sookie and climbs (or tries to) in the chair....it's so funny!
almost there!
hahaha
she does it at night too when she's tired and wants to sleep....around 6. ha
i walked into the room the other day to this
my heart
i asked nate what they were doing and he said he was telling her a story
playing with her doll house!
we took the kids to the aquatic center sat/sun for some inside fun. i brought my camera and took 1 pic. this one. haha
then aunty jess came for a visit! she joined us sunday after church, came with us to the aquatic center and chilled with us for a few days it was a great visit! come again aunty jess!
sharing secrets in the kitchen
reading about ninja's and legos. ha
we started nate back to school yesterday, i wasn't sure how it was going to go because it's normal to have a few rough starting days after a vacation and we had aunty jess here. i was pleasantly surprised that i had no issues with nate at all. none. he has 2 stickers on his chart to show for it.
i am mixing up his curriculum choices for this semester. i am sticking to the 3 main courses, reading, math and writing/spelling. i was going to do science and geography with him but after going through the books over the break i realized that i would have to sit with him to help him read the bigger words...this is not something i want to do (forced to sit with him through his lessons) and because i am the teacher it's important that i am happy too. haha. so ive decided to spend this winter boosting his reading to the point that next year he would be able to do most of it himself....leaving me to do other things....
nate works about 80% of the time alone. i am there to facilitate, check his work and help him with larger words but for the most part i've laid the lessons out that all he does is get his books and start with out me. now that we are in the kitchen, he sits at the table and i am free to make supper, bake something, do laundry, check emails etc...but i do enjoy sitting beside him...and i do teach him his lessons, but have him do the work book alone
that's us in a nut shell! how are you?

I like your stragegy for next year!!
Hope you're keeping well. I guess one downside of homeschooling is that you don't get snowdays. The girls haven't gone back to school yet from after the break. Too cold and snowy for the buses to run.
On the other hand, you can call a snowday any way you want, so maybe it's not a disadvantage at all!!
Blessings,
Ursi
each family school is different. but for us, no we dont take snow days or any public school day (minus march and christmas break) we much rather work through a snow day and finish may 1st
see with our school we don't follow the school system/style. we do our book work at different times each day because we have other classes (gym, science, music etc...) sometimes we've done 'school' at night
perfect example this fri, we are taking the day off. i am having nate's buddy over for a fri fun day. just because we can. ha
but i do know other families that do take snow days/in service days, some take every fri off, some do 2 wks off school then take 2 off all yr round
each home school is different and is right for that family. know what i mean?
so it's hard to say! thats the long short answer. hahaha
I think it is importened that it is right for YOU AND YOUR KIDS and family. And yes, comparing is a bad thing. to often i fall in this trap. Have a great and wonderfull school year. And remember , it is the nature of growing: with no rain it will become desert. So good and not so good day belong into the big picture. Muetti
