yesterday was the funeral of the 3 police men who were shot down in their prime. moncton was bursting with officers from all over the country. i decided to go forward with our plans for the day (home educator field trip at the zoo) and watch the service at home. when we arrived at the zoo, the magic mtn parking lot was over flowing with officers preparing for the funeral. who knew so much red and blue would brig tears to my eyes?
yesterday we met with the home educator group for a trip to the zoo! so much fun! we had a behind the scene tour and hands on petting time with some of the animals, then had a guided tour with a staff member of the zoo, we were shown and told some insider tips and had a great time!
nate was staring at this sign, i asked him what he was doing and he said "mom, i love that i can read big words, i can read this whole sign!" independent learning i tell ya. haha
nate spent the day hangin with his buddy e
reading about the cougar
u cant see the cougar but it was right in front of nate, we spent a good chuck of time watching his bad boy!
scoping out the wild life
2 tigers on the loose! haha
the new spiffy play ground, its huge. we spent an almost an hour here
on the way out. my, my how he's grown from the 2yr old i use to bring to the zoo on a reg base!
chris took the morning off to stay and hang with his girl, while i took nate. i knew that the setting would be more at nates level, sitting and listening so i decided to leave ellie at home and focus on nate, SO glad i did, most of the younger kids that did come (home educator putting are kid friendly, all ages welcome) melted down around 10:30...i am so grateful that chris's boss is so easy going with allowing him to take time off for these type of things. times like this it' can be challenging not having family to jump in for an hour or two....esp dr appointments! oya!
anyways! the day was fun!
