sunday after church, it was FINALLY nie enough to go visit those ducks! chris had a meeting so i took the kids. i/we forgot to brig nate's boots. i explained to nate that his shoes were NOT water proof and he had to be careful where he walked and it was not a great idea to go off in the deep snow with just his shoes
he asked why so i explained that is he chooses to walk in water his feet WILL get wet
if he walks in the snow, his feet WILL get wet
if he walks to close to the water's edge, he can slip and fall in the water and he WILL get wet
i also told him if he walks on the ice, it is thin, it will NOT hold his weight and he WILL get wet
i even went into great detail that once he gets wet, he will be cold, uncomfortable and he will have to walk back to the car, wet, cold, and uncomfortable
he said he understood and off we went on the 20 min walk (it takes me 10 mins alone. haha) to find the duck pond
nate stopped at every thing to investigate, explore and feed the squirrels
he is such a boy
getting close to the water. haha
ellie watched from her throne
nate was sad that he couldn't go to the edge
i warned him about the soft snow, the depth and the water's edge but off he went
ellie walked too
poof! i heard a "HELP! MOM! HELP" and up came a soaking wet nate. he fell into the water up to his hips
i then explained to him that i was sorry he fell and got wet but now we all had to leave the park early, and he had to walk the 20 mins back, wet, cold and in his wet jeans
nate got quiet and said as we walked "i am going to be a solider, they have to man up and thats what i am going to do"
in place of the normal, yelling, screaming, anger, blaming game he could fall into, my boy choose to be quiet and walk back. with not. one. complaint. not one!!!!
he even stopped to feed the ducks the last of his bread
i am SO proud of him!
ellie LOVES being outside!
she was watching nate run...
we got back to the car, i gave nate my sweater to wear home so he could take his wet pants off. he didnt complain once and trust me he was cold!!!!
i told him next time we will bring boots. haha
my boy is growing up!
AND yesterday he got up made chris a drink (yop, banana, milk) started his coffee, cleaned up his mess with out me asking, shut off his video game to eat AND THANKED ME for making his breakfast. that is a first
maybe we are coming out of this rough patch???
ive been in a rough patch with nate the last month, id say about twice a yr he gets difficult, character building time for him and me. ha. the days were long, esp mon-fri cause i couldnt ship him off for someone else to deal with for the day and get a break. nope, i was with him through the rough days BUT we came out of it!
i am proud of my boy! my sweet kid is back
