science!

we also made some head way in our science currica with nana plumps here.  we are using apologia astronomy and the jr note book.  i LOVE this program!  it is creation based curric, that can be used twice during elementary. example, i purchase the text book once, then use the jr notebook for the younger yrs, then reuse the same text book with the reg notebook for the upper elementary yrs. the text book will be used 6 times by the time im done with it.

i find its super easy to read and use, the notebook is perfect for nates age and has fun activities to do (that are EASY for me to set up) i read the text too him but he does the rest. i am amazed by what i have learned about the solar system so far!

we are studying the solar system and each planet

this week we learned about mercury.  did you know it's rotates around the sun in an oval rotation and not a circle? and the next lunar eclipse that we can see in on april 15. haha

nate's experiment, to form indentations that represent craters that hit mercury which created the markings. we used flour and random items around the house.  mercury is covered with a layer of dust, which flour is awesome at recreating.....says the mom with flour on the floor, table, school stuff....ha
ellie danced while nate created
then we made a flour ball to create our own model of mercury
nate did a great job
and used a pencil to create some of the markings....the flour ball is still sitting on the counter drying....
working away on his vocab words...i find the program is presented to the teacher and the student in a simple way, and we can work at our own pace
who woulda thought i'd enjoy math and science/!?  crazies!

happy friday everyone!
