what the enemy planned for destruction, god turned into greatness....or a verse something like that
a few weeks back, nate disobeyed us and our neighbor who asked him to not play with his wife's garden ornament. nate chose to not listen and took it again, resulting in breaking it. our neighbor came to us and explained what happened. we had company at the time, so chris and i waited until they left and took nate out to the garage to get the story from him, after a lot of tears he finally confessed to the truth, which was close to what the neighbor said
so we told nate he had to make it right and gave him the option of choosing how to do that. he came up with replacing the garden ornament and apologizing....which i think was the hardest for him to do
our neighbor was away for a week, so that gave chris and nate time to replace it
they came up with a way to make her one! they did up a few mock ups and they turned out awesome! so awesome that when nate went over to apologize and replace it our neighbor kissed him on his forehead and was truly touched by his gesture and took her pick
our other neighbor saw one and wanted one too which lead chris's mind clicking away and they came up with.....
nate's concrete creations! chris and nate sat down and came up with a business plan; on the computer, they graphed it and worked out the numbers, then chris gave nate a loan to purchase supplies to get himself up and after a lot of talk of loans, interest, partners, investors, etc.... nate had an understanding of how it works and out they went to make the second batch of garden leaves
chris made the frames and did the hard concrete mixing but nate did the rest! and boy did he work! they laid out the leaves
measuring
working away!
and after a few days of drying they were ready, this is just a few of them
then chris and nate loaded up the batch in nate's wagon and they went around the neighborhood selling them. they sold them all but 1 in 20 mins.
nate came home with his earning and down to the basement they went, after they entered the figures, minus the production cost (gas to the stores and to get the leaves, concrete, coloring, wood etc....) nate made a profit of 10.00. hahaha BUT when they make the second batch all the money nate makes will be his until they need more supplies
nate is saving for a moped for when he's 14
so what was designed to destroy, sin, disobeying, not listening was changed for good, nate's own business! and an amazing way to intro nate into creative thinking, working for himself as well as the financial aspect of life. the cost of living but most important nate discovered hard work! and a great way to connect with his dad
im calling this financial 101 and economics 102 for home education! yeah me!
