ellie got her date last night, she chose me. we went to walmart where she spent her 10 gift card from christmas. she got hatchimals, a bag of candy and bubbles. we then went to mcdees for an ice cream. it was nice to chat with her one on one
so. parenting is brutal. it sucks. its wonderful. its hard. its everything all in one.
ive been struggling with ellie and her attitude. her lying and disobedience. its frustrating. its really made me grow in patience. as in not losing it.
after a rough week last week, and a crappy mon with her. i went to bed praying and asking god to HELP ME NOT LOSE MY MIND....and show me how to handle this...
and BAM. he did!
he brought back to my memory a sermon i listened to about 12 yrs ago called "the law of adjustment" so i made it kid simple and added my own flair to it
i sat the kids all down tues morning and drew a road. then joey got a car to drive on it. the road is the good road. its god's way. its small and hard to stay on at times. when you go off the road its dirty, muddy, bumpy and grassy. thats not gods way. we went over good and bad and i filled in the road and dirt with examples they gave me....the whole point...when you get off the road god will bump you back on it...by using mommy to tap you back with directions, words, instructions etc...
so we now have a code. when they are off the road or going off it i simply say "tap, tap, tap" and they say "get back on the road!"
last night we were having our ice cream, a family was sitting beside us and the kids were acting up. ellie looks at them, then looks at me and says "they are not on the road" ha
its a small start. but man, its hard!
i cant believe this week is almost over. im playing catch up with house work, laundry, grocery, errands and SCHOOL!
my days are full. i sleep very well at night! ha
happy hump day!
