ok. gotta admit. its been a LONG time since i've baked. i remember before the girls arrived, i really enjoyed baking. but with the babies, then toddlers, school and life, ive stopped....but last night, i ended up buying a bunch of peaches and i did NOT inspect them, so when i got home i realized 1/2 of them were spoil ed. instead of chucking them, i looked up recipes on how to cook them. ha. after surfing and talking to the kids. the kids wanted a peach pie! ive never made one before...so we did!
it was group effort
from peeling, to measuring to this. voila. a group effort! peach pie!
as the pie baked, i did a crafte with joey. her puppy looked on
then ellie joined in!
we were making a corn stalk, then talked about the merits of corn. i wrote down the key words the girls said, and i went to check on the pie. then i came back to this...
what the what??? joey wrote down (from the list i made) pop corn, then put her name. im was impressed....then i saw Ellie's
in pencil. great job girls!
when the pie was done, i made banana bread....joey came in the house sad from not being able to play with the older kids, so i got her busy with this craft. a simple acorn cut out, i went out side with her to pick up all the brown items we could find, then she cut it out, glued it and voila!
a masterpiece in the making
see!
so much that ellie came in wanting to participate. and she did, even though i told her JOEY would tell her what to do, bec she just did it...and i wanted to see how she would respond....surprisingly, ellie listened and did what joey said! and the craft was made
then it was pie and banana bread time. sure. the pit looks 1/4 burnt. haha but after i scraped it off, the kids devoured it!
bak to joey and her crafts!
ellie too!
after supper, the kids loved the desserts!
gotta say for my first time ever attempt at a peach pie, i liked it! the banana bread is my no fail recipe. but i added walnuts and hazelnuts, not sure how the kids will enjoy...haha....but i will!
and that is a sneak peek into our mid-week! as im off to wrangle and put my kids to bed!
