nate and i got our education on about the ever so wonderful, sunny, beautiful and often ruled out as a pain in the butt weed! the dandelion! did you know that they have a life cycle?
they do!
they come up out of the ground closed up
then they bloom into a wonderful yellow
then they turn into white fluff
then the fluff blows away, usually by the wind or in my case kid!
then the white fluff carries a teeny, ever so tiny brown seed in the air
then it lands
then it settles on the soil
then the seed starts to grow roots
then a new dandelion pops up out of the ground
then it starts all over again
cool eh?
kinda like how Christianity should be
grow your roots
pop up out of the ground
grow, mature (or turn into white fluff)
allow life's challenges/situations/circumstances to cause you to change
words/actions are sent into the air
when they come down the should affect others around us in a positive way
(salvation/friendships/maturity/growing/strengthening)
then you/they settle on the ground
and go into the ground
and new roots start to grow again
the super cool thing about dandelions is they grow everywhere! they not just handle hard ground/rocks/lack of water they thrive in it!
they spread fast! you just can't seem to get rid of one...with out another one popping up. you know you are in trouble when you see 1 on your lawn bec you know many, many more are to come
they are called weeds because they effect the flowers/plants/life around them. they have the ability to take over! and they do!
no matter how many times you dig them up, pull them out, kick them over, sneak out at 3 am with your non-enviro friendly-toxic weed killer to destroy them...they come back
they are strong!
they look beautiful when there are hundreds of them on a field
am i twisted and weird (kinda ;) to think that maybe we should be a wee bit more like that?
i am now calling myself mel, the warrior dandelion princess....haha
*disclaimer- i actually learnt all this stuff while teaching nate about the dandelion. i never knew having such an inquisitive child would have me get my education on! i have learnt so much!
did YOU know that a bumble bee has a bum? they do!
