hopeless rocks!

last june, we spent the afternoon at "hopeless" rocks. the name the girls gave hopewell rocks about 5 yrs ago.  we've been there so many times but it doesnt matter, we always enjoy another visit.  i was thrilled to see Anike! i havent seen her since covid so we spent most of the afternoon chatting and cathing up.  love watchin how our kids are growing an becoming their own
some pics of the rocks
we combed the beach and learned about seaweed

it was a beautiful afternoon.
then we hiked back up the hill. the girls did some grumbling but over all it was enjoyable.  my girls!
finishing up the school year in my bed....we had a successful school year, we actually accomplished more than i planned on....while building the house and trying not to loose my mind. ha
we usually ended the day working in my room
chris found this awesome 19701's pot in the woods.  he brought it home and i turned it into a plant pot.  i picked up some cactuses and a succulenta nice addition to the porch...note the construction gear in the back ground
conference 2023!

i put my hair down and off we went.  chris handed in his resignation for spring 2024....12 yrs is long enough to serve on the board and im looking forward to just attending and not putting it on.  Our speakers were Hal and Melanie Young.  we had a great turn out and chris and i both taught at the workshops

chris just before his workshop...his was "critical thinking"....and something else mine was "homeschooling through a crisis"

i decided that leading workshops is NOT my jam, ill do one with chris but standing alone and talking to a room full of people is not my idea of a good time. haha

day 2.  hair is back in a pony.  a fancier version of my regular "mom bun"
we were gone for 2 FULL days.  I arrived home to this. i was NOT happy

the laundry room

meeka hid while i freaked out!

i had the girls clean it up!

science fair.  we hosted the 11the annual science fair.  this yr it was at new hope church and we had a special speaker!
both girls had their own projects.  ellie did the eye and joey brought in "nibbles" the rat, she did her project on rats
both girls did all the work themselves.  i only photocopied
i snapped this pic to remind myself. i took nate and his friend to a lecture on "Biblical Sex and Sexuality" it was very informative.  both the boys and i enjoyed it!

day of science fair. im trying to remember the exact numbers. i think we had 11 projects and over 20 kids who came to check it out.  with the split in the homeschool group, this was a good turn out!  this year will be better!

some of the projects

this simple experiment got me really thinking. it was growing plants with different minerals.  since being at the cabin full time my house plants have exploded. i have repotted all of them, some of them twice.  I rooted spider plants, replanted them and then split them up!  i think it has to do with the water. we are on well water out here! anyways, this project was my personal fav

forest fires
colored daisy's
baby zek!
the projects
and out guest speaker!
chris the science guy!  he was great
someone was VERY tired at the end of the day
my loyal pup
on the way to halifax, chris was finishing the floors and wanted us out...so we switched shawn for us.  shawn came down to help chris and i took the kids to hali....but on the way nate waned a "little snack"
my room!  thanks for the flowers (joey) and look at the boys in the back ground

after church lunch before heading back home

joey!

then 2 wks later we went back up to halifax for charlies 13th birthday!
the kids went to the movies while my sister and i went shopping. perfect afternoon....chris stayed back to sleep. haha
meeka!
i love this!  can you guess what this is?  ellie went to the dentist and i found them playing....ellie set joey up with the laughing gas....lol
ellie made a house for her beloved rat. this rat is the cutest thing ever.  loves to be carried and is quite spoiled
