woolco anyone?

who remembers woolco?

monday's $1.44 day! tuesdays too late!
the cart
the freaking candy counter???!!!! my fav!
who loves me some woolco? ha! or maybe it was a west thing? was there any woolco's on the east coast?
i grew up in calgary and we had a woolco in the mall about 10 mins from my house. i loved that place. i remember the candy counter and was SO sad when they took it away. i remember all the counters really, they had one for cosmetics, health and beauty, automotive etc...
it's weird the things that come to your mind when you are in bed
yeah. i got me some nasty bug, it started yesterday in the afternoon. not sure what happened but ewww. nasty. i am icky today but functioning. mommie's don't get days off! i am thinking it's sinus related cause my head is jammed and all that. i am counting the hours until chris gets home...
on a side note. i think it's absolutely redic. how much i missed chris when he was away. i miss the silly things. the candy wrappers, the bowls and such in the sink (i can tease him about the weird things he eats) the chatter over nothing and everything, the quick love ya calls...the simple companionship...i am glad he's back. for this week that is!

Yep, there were Woolco's all over! I'm pretty sure my Mom worked in Woolco in Penhorn Mall, in Dartmouth, during her youth. That is, before it turned to Walmart. In '94, the Woolworth Corporation sold most of the Woolco Canada stores to Wal-Mart Canada!

If you wikipedia it, they even reference your $1.44 dyas!:) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Woolco

remember when dad was bicycling in the Woolco parking lot, and hit the brakes on a speed bump, and fell head over heels?! It was scary then, but man if we had Youtube back then, we would have had a million hits.
And it was there that dad got us addicted to Boxing day sales, I remember being there when the gate opened. Good times.

Well well, now it is coming out, the old fellow is getting blamed for my two daughters lack of control when it comes to shopping or any type of reason for shopping, an excuse.

I guess it's good to be remembered for something.

i also remember DAD taking us to woolco, funny i don't remember mom there...dad IS to blame for our love os shopping. ha.

i remember that mall SO well. chris and i went to it on our honeymoon (BEFORE we flew out. we did not honeymoon at the mall!) and we sat and had a coffee the inside was changed...but not the FLOOR! it was the SAME! i walked chris through it and pointed out "the toy store was there, the bridal store was there, that funky chinese store was there, the shoe store was there, the SLUCHIE counter was here, woolco was there...

he was like "you remember that???"

what can i say. i know shopping ha!
