for the very. first. time. evah. i left nate with a non family baby sitter last night and went out on a date with chris
such fun!
we dined by reservation in a non high chair restaurant! it was amazing to eat by candle light and have non interrupted convo with my beloved. we chatted, we laughed, we reminisced, we sat in quiet, we made plans, shared a few dreams and ate amazing food. it was delightful
i can not wait to do it again
ok, i must be totally honest. i put nate to bed, then our friend came over and watched him. har! she has her own 3 little ones and i thinks she welcomed the chance to be alone, in a quiet house for a few hours. bec i am cheap and REFUSE to pay 8 bucks an hour for a babysitter we are going to trade up watching each other's kids so we can have dates...out of the house

Ou la la! That sounds lovely. Personally (don't hate me for this), I hate seeing children in a restaurant when Hubby and I are hoping to get out of the house for a romantic night out. I'm sure my view will change when those screaming and misbehaving kids are my own, but until then, I'll sit in the lounge or wherever kids are not allowed to be. Isn't that awful? So I ask, where was this place you guys went for this fancy date? We'll be celebrating our second wedding anniversary while we're home and are looking for ideas/suggestions of where we might go. Yes, Jeremy is from there and has lots of ideas himself but I think it would be fun to try a place that's new to both of us! :)
i am toally with you on the kids screaming at a restaurant issue. i am cool with kids being kids at a family restaurant/kid friendly but when i am shelling out the $ for a dinner with my hubs i want quiet! ha!
for restaurants in moncton for your anni. it totally depends on how much you want to spend! or what kinds of food you like...my most fav (so far) is chateau a pape it costs about 50-60 for both of you's. chris loves this itilain place off of main st, you have to have reservations to go and it's about 50 bucks for 2 ppl...last mon night we went to pastelli's bec i had a bogo :) i am cheap!
i have a bogo for the dinner theater here in moncton (mcsweeny's) that you guys can have if you want to do that for your anni. i know we won't use it, just let me know!
Wow - none of those places sound very expensive. We enjoy a steak house near our place for about $150 for the both of us, so $50-$60 would be a steal!!
Hm... I've never been to Chateau a Pape, but Jeremy has. I'm fairly certain that's where he proposed to the ex-wife, lol..... not that it phases me but I've looked at it online and the decor makes me want to vomit. He assures me that it's lovely food, etc. Perhaps we'll try it but I'm thinking of something more modern for our anni.
I'm not sure what italian place Chris likes, but there's one that Josh, Jer and I have gone to before and really liked. Jer also likes an italian place - I wonder if it's the same one!?
I've never been to McSweeny Dinner Theatre ... I wonder if Jer has. After looking at the price though, I know I would never go without a bogo ... holy - dinner theatres in Florida are less than in Moncton! Yikes! :) Perhaps we'll take you up on that - I'll see if Jer would be interested. Thanks for the offer, Melanie.
My usual meal would include steak, but seeing that AB is the place to get steak and NB/NS are the places to get seafood, I've vowed to stay away from steak while we're home..... this may be a tricky vow to keep. If you know of any good bistro's or steak houses, I LOVE steak! ha. Like I said though, it may not compare to the AB steak :)
Our anni is Aug 1 and we'll be spending the evening before in a small cabin with Jer's family in PEI, seeing as his cousin gets married on the 31st. Not sure that we'll get back in time to do an evening out on our actual anniversary date, but perhaps on the 2nd or another night we could. I just asked Jer and he says he's never been - it wasn't there when he left Moncton. That might be a nice treat for us and something new to try! Thanks for offering us your bogo, Melanie, I will get back to you on whether or not we may need it. :) :) Thanks again!!
let me know if you want the bogo for the dinner theater.
i totally get the alberta beef. i was born and lived in calgary. my uncle has a ranch just out side banff.
alberts=beef
merrytimes=seafood
i quite liked the decore of cd pepe. it cosy and quante. the food was delish. mmmmm.
if you want a good steak the keg is always there. ha. i have never eaten there, i am not a meat eater kinda gal and the redid prices keep me away :) i refuses to spend 200 bucks on a meal. refuse. :)
pricy to me is 75-199. but then again that is what makes the world so great. everyone has diff views, thoughs, likes and taste...and budgets :)
we me staying at home with my bud, eating out is a treat. we skip the extra's in order for me to be home. which i would never, ever trade for a billion dollars!
so, yeah. let me know if you want the coupon!
In all honesty, I can't say I'm a fan of paying high amounts for food that I could probably whip up myself but since we do it so seldomly and that's the cost of life in Alberta, I suck it up....
Jer says your money goes further for food when in NB, lol
I think we may trip the CaP :) Jer raves about their food! Oh, and yes, Pastelli's is the place that Jeremy also likes. Perhaps we can find time to go there after church on a Sunday while we're home! Feel free to tag along - I love company!
I anticipate being a stay-with-baby mommy someday as well, so I know what you mean about cutting costs to stay on budg and make it possible to be home with Nate. I think of it quite often, which is why we are practicing those budget cuts right now, LOL :) Gotta get Hubby prepared .... truth is, he doesn't want kids for a long while yet. Silly man! ... and time is still on MY side. haha
