book of kells! Trinity college!

we took a cab into dublin from the gail to trinity college!  this was the high light of my trip!!!  stepping onto the campus was an experience!

the book itself is in a dark room, no cameras or recording was allowed.  to be able to see the book through the glass was breathtaking!

then, and then!  we went to the library.  unfortunately the library is under a massive restoration and only part of the books were on display. i was astonished by the feel of the room with little on display, i cant imagine what it would have been like to be in the room with all those books in the original condition. the first thing you get is the smell!  the smell of all those books, the silence. the atmosphere of reverence, almost like a church!  imagine walking up the stairs to grab a book at the top!
