fathers day preup

in prep for father's day (mom's are on top of stuff like this and prep a week early not like dad's muwahhhhhh) i started thinking about my own dad and i thought "if i could ask him questions what would i ask" and seeing as he's alive i thought why not! why wait! i will ask while he's here! so i did

i sent the following questions to him and i was teary when i read his responses. i won't post what he wrote to me, i do have my limits. lets just say i cried. so i though i would post them for you guys so copy and use if you want. it really gave me in site into my dad, on a level i didn't know. i haven't even shared the answered with chris yet (sorry babe) i will! i just wanted to keep them for me for a while....so enjoy!

1. What did you enjoy most about being a Dad? Least?

2. Are there things you wish you had done differently as a father?

3. In what ways are we alike and in what ways are we different?

4. Why did you marry my mother?

5. Is there anything you every wanted to tell us (me) but have not?

6. What is the secret to raising good kids?

7. Is there anything you regret not having asked your parents (my grandparents)?

8. Do you think today’s fathers have it harder, easier or just different?

9. What do you want to make sure that my children and grandchildren will remember about you?

p.s i hug and kiss nate more now. haha 2 comments

charlie girl!

it's 12:15 in the morning, i am waiting up for chris. for some freakish reason, i can't bare to go to bed with out him, chris is out with a friend. anyways. in the late hour, i was reflecting and remembering a year ago...

one year ago right about now, i was mixed with feelings, a bundle of nerves, full of excitement about watching my first ever birth and at the same time, total fear of not knowing how i was really, really going to feel as i saw my niece enter the world

how would i really react?
sad?
upset?
delighted?
disgusted?
passed out on the floor due to the blood?
excited?

i was stunned to watch the whole birth. amazed at my sister's strength, not a scream of pain nor a stream of hateful words leashed out at her hubby or a tear of pain from her eyes. she was focused, relying on hc for support, she pushed, groaned, sweat ed and smiled when it was over

it was amazing to watch charlie come into the word. words can;t describe the sheer beauty and ickyness of it all

what made me quiet (for once) was watching charlie come out, the cord being cut and with tears of joy, true and utter joy, i watched my strong, non-girly, no emotion sister open her arms and cradle her still blood covered daughter to her chest, cry closed her eyes and smiled; just as her body started to shake from the whole birth process. her face looked exhausted from what just happened, but her eyes smiled

i will never forget that look watching my sister, in the wee hours of the morning, looking so peaceful and relaxed, delighted and content made me realise that everything was ok, everything will be ok. there is nothing to fear, charlie girl's birth proved to me that no matter what, my sister and i will always love each other
( i snapped this pic seconds after charlie met her momma, i love it. i see nothing but beauty in this picture. i pray you can see it too....or my sister is going to hunt me down and beat me like she use to growing up. cry, i love you and would NEVER post a bad pic of you! )

i am thankful that i had the honour to watch my niece grow up this past yr, she is adorable and to me the cutest little thing ever, i adore her, i love her, i thank her for showing aunty that she can love babies, there is always room for love in this world

happy, happy, happy birthday charlie grace. i love you so very much! 2 comments

colorodo springs

us. 6am. leaving for halifax to catch our flight to colorado springs
warning:this is a LONG, stuffed to the max with pics post!
why? for the eig clan. seeing as chris and i are the LAST ones to go, i thought i would lavish the deets on the eig's, they LOVE details. the longer, the better...haha

chris and i were sent to cs to visit http://caringfortheheart.com/ it's an intense marriage counselling. it was weird to tell ppl we were going bec most ppl said "is everything ok?" which was the opposite, chris and i are at the best place in our marriage. ever. so we finally went!

the BEST time to go get marriage council is when everything is good! we had a BLAST! we called it our "working vacation" it was fun and amazing and thrilling and so very intense all at once

i actually lack the words to explain how much this trip changed my life, my marriage, my hubby, my family and my relationship with god. over the next few i will try to share how life changing it was

to sum it all up, chris said it best" john was able to pin point the main problems in 15 mins, he is gifted and open to be used in this area"

here is a peek into our journey

oh, i also called this our "eating what ever, when ever i want vaccay" haha i bought new clothing, in bigger sizes. i enjoyed every mouthful and at times out ate chris!.true

lunch in a cute mexican bistro. not sure what it was but it was GREAT

day 1, waiting our first session

mmmmm panara coffee mmmmmmmmm

mts glorious mountains

chris came shopping with me. walmart. we had a great time! ha

the store was on the left

and this was the view on the right

and the trunk was 1/2 way full

view from our hotel window

another day another panera

during our 5 day stay we went 10 times to this place. the pastries were mouth watering and oh so ever melting

me. WAITING for chris, not minding the wait, the view was spectacular

where was he anyways???

SHOPPING he was! he spent WAY more than me!

i adored the mountains but i did have 1 teeny, tiny problem

gas

bloating

i looked pregnant

and no i am not

ha!

interesting lady on the way to the garden of the gods. i think she thinks she's swissgarden of the gods. simply breath taking

us in front of the buffalo. seriously, who would NOT want their picture taken in front of a gigantic buffalo?

taking a detour through the garden of the gods. it was SO refreshing, quaint and peaceful (before our afternoon session that would have me begging for mercy...bawahh)

just petting a free cow in the mountains and suffering from some bloat. haha

mocking chris as he explains how this farm thingy works

self shot up in the mountains in the garden of the gods. beautifulness

squeezing in the rocks

my rock in front of a huge rock

having an amazing snack in the mountains

pulled pork. it was really good!

mountains

this is for you shawn, chris forced me into lows and i found this bad boy for your kitchen

it's a freaking drawer microwave!

love it!

then i found this!

everyone needs a custom built in coffee machine

it pulls out for easy cleaning and has a cool pull out drawer too!

fri morning chris and i drove up a mountain, on the way up we found these cuties on the side of the road, we pulled over and i got some close shots (no zoom!)

betcha wanna shoot this eh jeff and shawn

not me, i fed it my apple

chris and i then ditched the car and climbed some of the mountain

see! i have the pic to prove it

i am so small

my god is so mighty

there is nothing he can't do

coolest ever rock stairs

us, on the mtn. we haven't thrown each other off....yet....haha

coming down the mtn. this was the edge of the mtn, it went straight down. it was ubber freaky and fun
tunnel in the mtn. just before we hit the tunnel, i had (made) chris pull over and I drove the rest. so. much. fun!

another ledge shot, seriously very freaky to drive up and down a mtn with no rails or safety edges!

driving through another tunnel

i made chris take a pic of me driving down the mountain. cry you would have been so proud of me!

then i drove home, on a 6 lane hwy. very cool. proud sis?

these pics are for you vati and muetti! i took a pic of the outside of the new caring for the heart ministry building. see we DID go...and not just galavant around the country. haha

the inside wating area.c was realxing before our last session

"what do you mean I have issues?" c in john' s new office

after our last session chris and i went to check out "manitou springs" it was just the neastest place, it's a lot like old town in florida but way cooler bec it's nested in the mtns. it was SO much fun, we checked out the shops, ate more food than we should have and enjoed each other's company!

side street on the way into the old school archade

childhood flash back pop machine. b.c anyone?

remember dad? and they work! for .5 cents

tom and jerry anyone?

fresh mtn water, that was naturally carbinated. it was so swiss....

street witnessing! i haven't seen it in yrs! very cool

shocking! chris looking at a MAP!

hells kitchen pizza

SO good!

ok, see the yellow building? above it is thishouses!

then we discovered.....home made frozen custard! WAY better than ice cream!

more panera

driving to denver i saw this

but it wasn't opened yet or we would have been in BIG trouble!

not bad. this was our take on luggage. that plastic bag is full of chips. for me. muwahhhh

one last guilt free supper

this is for YOU cry. do not mock the green hoodie with built in ear phones....bawahhhhhhhhh

we had such a great trip. we didn't fight once. even with all the travel. everything went so smoothly. chris and i feel that this was a life changing trip for the both of us. we learnt SO much, grew closer together and came away with a deeper understanding of us, life, god and who we are. more impotant we are totally connected emotionally

we have already decided that nate needs a weeks too so we are bringing him to colorado springs next yr, john agreed to council him while chris and i galavant around. haha

seriously, i would LOVE to go back. what an amazing life experience. thanks v&m for everything you did

i am trying to talk chris into bringing john out here to council all my friends!
