jon & jess's place

jonathan and jess are now living in blackville, a teeny, tiny mini town in the country. i refer to it as "little house in the prairie, 2009" it's about a 2 hr drive up north from moncton, 1/2 from miramichi. jon is working for corrections canada at renouse (sp?) a med security prison doing tec work. it's the job that chris did in sasky. jess just graduated from and is a welder, doing the tec/comp side of it. the plan was for her to work but after taking the last month or so to settle into her new home, she is rather loving her new job as a staw (stay at home wife) she has been working around the property, fixing things up, planting gardens etc...
their house is beautiful, settled in the heart of cottage country, surrounded by trees and lots of privacy. there house is on a water front, with their own water access. i adore their home. love the property. i am beyond green with envy. i love, love, love their place!!

the above pic was taken from the front balcony. the house is situated on a hill, with the front end facing the water and a porch that wraps around. i had my morning coffee sitting on the porch, watching the water.
this is the private, tree covered lane that leads to the house...that would be nate walking in the rain...splashing in every puddle

splash, splash (i am aware that he is covered in head to toe in camouflage)
view of the left of the river, through the trees
front view (the pastor of their church lives across the river)
view to the right of the river
a small part of their back yard. those would be our tents...jess told me she is tearing up the gardens and making a new one with walking paths through it. i told her she should do an octagon shaped garden, with flowers on the outside and veggies in the middle with walking paths

more trees to the left of the property

back end of the house, with the porch and stacked wood.
they plan on getting married in a gazebo close to the water (ok, my idea...when they bought the place i told them they should scrap the destination wedding and get hitched at their place...build a gazebo and have jess walk down from the house on a path, lit with candles at dusk to meet jon...once a wedding planner, always a wedding planner)
i had such a great time. i can't wait to go back.
thanks for the lovely vacation jon and jess!

vacay!

on our way to our wonderful 1 week vacation at jon and jess's place (bad pic of me but you can see nate in the back, super cuteness)
nate hit the books on the way down
jon and jess took us to this amazing, non-kid friendly, cute and oh so adorable tea house. j & J are showing off our "thank you for opening your house to us for 1 week while we vacation on your land" present

then we went to the park
mom/dad and the boys slept in the house. shawn, cry, jess, jon, chris and i slept in tents. in the morning mom and dad would take the boys to their beds (note ursi does the blanket....look familiar?? nate won't sleep with out it)

jess hanging with the boys...it looks good on you girl!
then we (as in the men, not us ladies, we sipped coffee, hung out on the porch and did our nails) chopped, split and stacked jon's winter wood. nate also helped
he earns his keep, that's for sure
he would take the wood off the wheelbarrow, and stack it

you go dude
helping poppy
grrr we are men
then we gathered sticks and rocks
after a hard day of work, we went to the river. which nate adored!
nate swimming to uncle jon (shawn was being a big old baby and wouldn't go in the water, he said it was too cold...hummm.....nate's in the water!)

quinn playing in the storage bin...he was playing "parking lot"

then i taught jess how to cut hair. she did a great job! she did chris first
then jon's

boys birthday party!

it's not a partay with out fish!
opening the gifts from nana and poppy....we did notice that they boys thought it was funner to open each other's gift rather than their own
forgive the photo montage of quinn. for those who know quinn, know his attention span is as large as mine, and will not sit still for long. imagine my utter dismay and surprise that he actually stood. and opened the presents that i got for him (well, not a huge shock for me, quinn loves his aunty melly and will do anything for me)
the concentration...
the patience...
pick, pick, pick...ha! he did finally open it, i just didn't get a picture of it
nate opening jon and jess's gift...he loved it
ohhh more fish
quinn got a tool belt, which he used to fix things around the house
digging away...
ohhh...thanks uncle shawn and aunty cry!
then onto the big birthday dinner. quinn was trying to decide on what to order
steak mommy!
nate deciding (i did find it rather amusing that when nate saw a pic of eggs, bacon and ham he pointed to it and said "DADDY!")
mmm roast beef, potatoes and veggies...all dipped in ketchup. poppy was proud!
onto the shared cake. i will be making the fish cake for nate's family party on sunday
lots of sugar
nate has never had that much sugar in 1 seating. he was stoked. he ate almost all of it
mmm sugar
chris and i decided to leave thursday night, so after the dinner we put a pumped up on sugar boy in the car. we stopped 1/2 way to give a break and a chance to burn off the sugar rush. we found this cute mini train for him to play on. he loved it
boo daddy boo!
guess who was one super, sugar rush child. he was quite entertaining for the ride home!
