our nut bags!

our bags of nuts showed up on sunday. the kids were SO excited.  we LOVE this swiss tradition.  i think it "starts" the holiday season for us.  with nana and papa out of the country and suffering in new mexico. ha  aunty ursi put together our samichlaus bags.  THANK YOU ursi for your time, effort and love as you packed the bags for us.  it meant so much to the kids!
joey was totally into this while candy/nuts in a bag
 see!
nate too. can you believe this is his 8th bag! (you have to be 1 to get a bag, hence the 8th one)
 ellie-joy!
then joey saw those sparkly, bright, colored coins and played with them
sunday after our supper of hazelnuts, peanuts, walnuts, oranges, apples, cookies and dried fruit (thank goodness i didnt make supper that night!) we hit up the moncton zoo for "wild lights"  i had asked chris a few weeks ago to come with us.  the zoo put on a show of lights with the animals that are still at the zoo and not in hibernation/in a heated room.  i thought the whole night was AWESOME. totally cold and canadian, a little bit over priced for only being open at 5...and really cold. haha but over all it was a great experience to do as a family

ellie put her hands in her pockets the whole night. i loved listening to her walk around (the sound of the snow pants) and seeing her with her hands in her pockets. so grown up
 checking the bears out
and some stranger took our family pic!
the lights were amazing. the zoo was full of lights of the animals
 mama bear and baby bear
and me
get it? hahaha
and also, to my fam jam who knows me SO well....me with a BEAR!
i was terrified and i mean terrified of bears as a kid. and camping in BANFF was NOT FUN! hahaha
ellie with her hands in her pockets
they also had these cool projectors with animals and snow flakes.  joey was so taken with them, running around and enjoying the cold .ha
 and more running
 and more running
 and another lap
huge moose. ok, it was really cool to see in real life. not so great as a pic
 more animals
the tiger!  ok, so normally the tiger is way in the back of the park but with the cold, the animals were right up against the glass enclosures and we were separated by the glass. it was unbelievable to see the tiger and cougars that close. esp the tiger.  amazing.  totally worth the cold
they had this huge and cool swan that moved, i quite liked it. chris made fun of me for it. ha
 see how it moved
 so cool
 haha
ok, then we saw the monkeys.  do you see what i see?
a mama and her BABY on her back
it was the cutest thing. ever
see the mama and her baby?
it was so cute. even the MEN were watching them
the zoo turned the rabbit house into a snow village. after seeing this, ive decided that when the kids get older, im totally gonna collect village pieces and make my own snow village
then we hit up the huge park
which was so fun for the kids
why?
the snow and cold temps made them FLY down the slides and i mean FLY
it was so funny to watch the kids airborne out of the slide

the girls

the other morning i was washing dishes and i could hear joey playing, i looked up and saw this. she drug the high chair out, put her baby in it and was feeding it water from her "waddle baddle"
she is such a little mommy
she loves babies and puppies
and adores taking care of them
i was called up to the playroom by the kids the other morning...i saw this
peek a boo!
 haha
then it was time to watch a play by "pirate ellie"
who danced and sang for me, while joey copied her
then nate joined in as super man and the kids finished the play with acrobats and more laughter
im so glad i home school and instead of school, the kids do this
so, ellie has taken a real zest for school. when im done with nate's one on one studies, i spend an hr with ellie. the other morning, she TURNED OFF HER SHOW and told me it was her school time. i came into the playroom and saw this!  ellie went and set up her SCHOOL!
she loves learning and tells me every day that she wants to read
she can read basic sight words like for
 can
 and
we are studying the letter F this week. but ellie went and got me this book that she fell asleep reading the other night, this book was filled with the "Mm" and she wanted to learn the Mm, she went and got me the reader and we scratched the F lesson and instead i taught her the letter M
showing me all the M's she saw the night before
then moved on to the b
she is so different than nate
not better, just so different
she reminds me of chris and his love to learn more
i wonder how long i can teach her until she starts to teach me?
actually, she's been teaching me new things since she was born

ellie wrote a letter to nana a few wks back and was THRILLED to get mail from nana yesterday
i snapped a few pics for nana and papa
 opening
 and seeing
a mcdonalds gift card. when nate saw it he asked ellie "can you get something for me with your money?"
ellie said "yes nathaniel"  and she would
so happy to get mail. she asked to sleep with her card last night, i told her no and this morning she asked to see her "mail" again. haha

swiss chalet!

the only thing i ask to do each yr at christmas is to go to swiss chalet for the festive special.  i love swiss chalet, chris? not so much. he loathes the place. BUT i got my way last night and not only did i NOT have to cook supper, we went to swiss chalet!  we had a great time.  nate was happy to be there. haha
chris was not so thrilled
joey and i were there too
i love how im looking at the other two kids, while joey is in my lap
ellie then picked up a crayon and in nate's style, circled what she wanted to order and was so happy to get "her juice with the cherry" haha
we then tied miss joey (she is SOOOOO busy) in a high chair and chris entertained her by drawing pictures of FOOD on her napkin. joey then picked up her fork and knife and ate the food!
chris is brilliant! this kept her busy the whole time until out food was ready
 nate and i
i LOVE this kid
i LOVE seeing the changes in him
and i LOVE watching him grow into such a fine, young man
chris, my amazing hubby, drawing more food for joey to eat
 and she did
after supper and fixing a HUGE mix up with our kids meal card and bill (shawn, remember from halifax?)  what an ordeal.  to make things right, the manager GAVE us ellie and nate's meals for FREE last night AND gave us 1 more gift card with 5! FREE kid meals on it

know what that means????

i get to go back to my fav canadian restaurant (my all time fav chain restaurant is olive garden, with chipotle  a close runner up) before dec 31 and eat AGAIN! hahahah

at the end of the meal, joey saw chris's "owie" and kissed it better
 know what?
chris's owie felt so much better
and thats a quick peek into the last few days

im glad i blog, other wise i'd forget 1/2 this stuff! 0 comments

art!

i had the kids work on some art projects, so i could click the art box for school as completed. hahaha
we made snow flakes and they truly did a great job.  we spent an hour working on them!
joey even made her own and i can say she did all of it herself!
ellie got quite into it as well
and nate impressed me with his skills
 joey really got into it!
like paint in her hair into it!
after the paint dried, we glued sparkly things on them
joey made hers all by herself
ellie and nate too
and of course i forgot to take a pic of the final product. but i hung them in the window
sat afternoon i invited micah and judah over to build a gingerbread house and decorate it. they worked together for 45 mins on it
then after all the sugary goodness, they smashed it and ate it!
 the front of the house
 the roof
 and back
then i bagged it up so m and j could take their share
haha
the kids had a great time!

now i can check 2 more things off my "to do before" christmas list. haha

happy snowy saturday! 0 comments
