home again!

so, i spent another few days in hali. my sis took 2 days off and we were able to hang out. like the good ol' days, but with a few changes...like breaky before noon, breaks for naps, going out after bed time and ummm....yeah the good old days.

we went on another walk, really when you have a leg in a cast your activities are limited.

then we went on a boat. poor nate saw the water from his stroller

then we saw big trucks and bulldozers. whee!

then back on the boat to halifax

there we saw the old owner of tim horton's personal home on water. this thing was 1 massive boat!

then back on the bus to go home....note nate's lack of hat. he threw it in the halifax harbour. eww

thurs we went...can you guess?....shopping. mom hung out with nate while i shopped. nate loved the rocks.

we had a good time. now back to reality and life and all the fun it brings

we have grass

whee! we finally have grass. sure, it's still a growing and maybe a but hard to see but i see green! and so do our neighbours.

the dude who lives beside us, did the same thing as us. we had the soil hauled in and we (chris) flattened it and planted the seed. super, way cheaper that way. we watered the seed right away and rotate the sprinklers on a reg base. our neighbour did not water as much as us. we have grass they don't.

the couple across the street paid a company to do theirs and they have nadda. zip, not 1 tiny blade of green. they are a bit mad.

so excited! no more dirt blowing in my house! 0 comments

another leg, another cast

naters had not had a full bath in a week. the dude stunk. i had chris rig him up a cast cover and we taped it really well. some how water got in the cast. after using my blow dryer for 15 mins and knowing that it was not going to work. chris and i cancelled our much needed home date, tossed nate in the car (not really tossed) and off we went to the dumont. they are SO awesome. they registered nate and told us to come back in 2 hrs. we went home, had supper and ice cream and around 10 we went back to the dumont.

nate had to color a pic before we saw the dr.

* i MUST add, chris was the one who dressed nate ...NOT me*

chris was showing nate the fish on his cast while we waited to have it cut off. we waited less than 5 mins to see a dr.

nate was so upset when he saw the big machine that would cut the cast off. i was a great mother and took pics while chris comforted nate. ha

there we go. 3 ppl to do the job. the cast was cut on both sides, it took less than 5 mins. the blade doesn't actually cut, it vibrates....it's still vary scary to a kid

good job nate! he was given a sugar filled freeze as a reward.

after the cast came off we saw the dr, nate was then put on the floor to walk. right away we noticed something was wrong with his right leg.

off we went to the x-ray dept for x-rays on his right foot

waiting for the verdict. the dr came back and told us the right foot was severely broken. and needs a cast for 3 weeks.

we are not sure what happened and why it was not noticed last week. the only thing we can come up with is 2 x-rays were taken of the left leg instead of 1 right and 1 left

oh no! not another cast!

nate was playing with his old cast as the new one was put on

he was in quite a bit of pain. poor dude. we have 3 more weeks to go! blah.

we were in and out of the hospital in 2 hrs. i am so pleased with the dumont, i can't say enough great things about them.

it was raining this morning so chris and i took nate to the mall. chris needs new shoes.....shoes! shopping! my fav things!! whee.

so there ya go.

halifax

mon morning we dropped crystal off at the airport, she was in newfieland for the week. but most excitedly, we saw BIG trucks. poppy showing nate the trucks

nate found some toys under nana's table to play with but not before he lined up all the animals and put them in proper order...humm...like father like son much?

tues we all went on a walk around the neighbourhood. poppy needed quinn's help to pull nate around. quinn was the one for the job

quinn just looks at the ducks with an air of indifference, you see one duck, ya seen them all....hah!

almost done the walk and quinn wanted to push nate home.

wed we went shopping. nate found a semi-comfy way to rest his leg

we left thurs morning. the rain was fitting for the over all mood. 3 sad ppl waving good-bye in the window. (click to inlarge the pic to see quinn's face)ha.

i am HOME! there is nothing like the feeling of walking into your home after being away for a few days. even better is walking into a CLEAN house. chris left it nice and tidy for me. what a guy.

i am home for the weekend. there is a ladies conference this weekend that i am going to, and nate has his cast appointment on monday, they will take the cast off and send him for x-rays to determine if he needs another cast for 10 more days, or if he's ok to start walking on it. nate is doing good. it was so helpful to have the extra hands around to help out, esp during diaper changes.

the plan is for me to go back up to hali next week, cry has taken a few vacay days and i insist that we hang out and use them wisely. i have planned her days away...good thing she is away in newfyland for work and doesn't know it yet :)

off to unpack, laundry and put things away....which reminds me. bulk barn was closing it's store in hali and i bought 120 bucks worth of dry goods, baking supplies and a few candies....ha. those who know me well, know i will be baking up a storm! wheee!

before we left

uncle jon had to come by sat night for a quick hello, snuggle and ok...a desperately needed hair cut.

nate cuddled jon and got some good uncle loving.

after nate woke up from his nap (3.5 hrs!) i put him on the floor with his new (to him) tool box. he was in quite a bit of pain, the cast had been on less than 24 hrs.

poor dude

he was in quite a bit of pain at this point. poor guy.

my poor little boy

yesterday morning, i took nate to the park, this park was a 20 min walk. we get there, we play, we run, nate then fell off the swing. he only fell a foot, the swing was not moving. but did he ever cry. i knew right away something was wrong, so i put him in the stroller and hiked the 20 min walk in 10 mins...all up hill. we get home, i call chris in. we give nate some Tylenol, gave him lunch....he ate 2 full plates. i was not sure if i should take him in to the emerg or not. there was little bruising, no swelling, no blood. i put him down for his nap, he slept 3.5 hrs. when he woke up he was still not standing or putting any weight on the leg. so i gave him supper and off we went to the emerg.

the emerg dr was AMAZING. love him. it also helped that he was like the cutest dr evah. seriously, this dr was very good looking. back to the story. nate had 8 x-rays done. the verdict- both legs were fractured. the left one was fractured in 2 different places, hence the cast to his hip. the right leg in 1 place-but the dr only wanted to cast the left leg, to make it more comfy for nate. he can't walk so the right leg will heal on it's own.

we took nate for a walk this morning and found some yard sales. chris bought nate an awesome tool kit.

i put a movie on for nate when we got back. he tried to get out of his chair...

but can't. it hurts to much.

so, he's in the cast for 10 longggggggggggg days. he can only sit, no moving, no walking, zadda. i am going to hali to visit my parents....i need help....it's hard to entertain him when there is not much for him to do. i guess he's gonna learn to like t.v over the next few days....and i am sure i will be reading many, many, many books :)

concentration

nate loves mr. potato head. he took the box down himself, took out all the parts and concert rated so deeply. he played with him for a good 15 mins. he would fill every hole, bring it to me to clap and make a big show over how awesome he did. then go back and do it again. he's got the concentration of a engineer, steadiness of a surgeon and the brains of a scientist. ...no pressure or anything...ha
